About This Role

Second Presbyterian Weekday School is seeking an enthusiastic, dedicated educator to join our Kindergarten team. This position is ideal for an educator who is ready to take on responsibilities beyond those of a traditional assistant teacher and is interested in growing professionally within our school community.

Founded in 1954, Second Presbyterian Weekday School is a Reggio Emilia-inspired school committed to fostering curiosity, creativity, and a love of learning. We believe in strong relationships, thoughtful curriculum, and providing children with meaningful learning experiences in a nurturing environment.


What You'll Do
  • Collaborate with teachers to plan and implement engaging learning experiences.
  • Support instruction in literacy, mathematics, and social-emotional learning.
  • Observe, document, and assess children's growth and development.
  • Foster a positive, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Build strong relationships with children, families, and colleagues.
  • Assist with classroom organization, preparation of materials, and daily routines.
  • Supervise children during classroom, playground, and school activities.
  • Participate in team meetings, professional development, and school events.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and project work within a Reggio-inspired environment.
  • Maintain a safe, healthy, and welcoming learning space.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Experience working with young children in an educational setting
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Interest in progressive, child-centered education
  • Experience with curriculum implementation is preferred
  • Familiarity with Orton-Gillingham and Everyday Math is preferred
