Work Schedule
Staff will be scheduled in accordance with employee availability and business needs. Temporary employees may be able to work a fixed, recurring schedule if available work permits; however, work shifts will primarily be as needed on weekdays with occasional, mandatory shifts outside of the traditional working hours, such as weekends, holidays, etc.
This position is designated as mandatory. The incumbent is expected to use sound judgment with respect to maintaining personal safety given their individual circumstances, but also to make a substantial and good-faith effort to reach the work site in a timely manner when adverse weather or other conditions affect normal campus operations.

Departmental Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education:
Duties and Responsibilities
  • The incumbent will serve as part of the Transportation unit within the Parking and Transportation Services (PaTS) department. This position will help support transportation services with scheduled and on-demand ADA transports, chartered transportation requests, and special events that may require the use of a commercial motor vehicle.
  • Perform vehicle safety inspections, document and report vehicle defects and needed repairs or maintenance, fuel and clean vehicles, assist passengers with luggage and equipment, transport passengers safely and timely as directed, complete and submit assignment paperwork, interact with technology programs associated with dispatch and service management, and other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director for Transportation or their designee.
  • The incumbent must possess and maintain a valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) and Department of Transportation (DOT) Medical card throughout their employment with the University

  • Direct responsibility for the secure handling of sensitive and/or confidential information.
  • Direct responsibility for the daily or regular operation of State or University-owned vehicles.

  • (Preferred) Commercial Driver License (CDL A or B with "P" Endorsement)

*Temporary staff employees are ineligible to receive benefits (leave, health coverage, State service credit, etc.). They are, however, covered by Worker's Compensation provisions.

If they average 30 or more hours per week over a designated measurement period, they will be offered the chance to enroll in the High Deductible Health Plan and will be notified of instructions.
