Under limited supervision is responsible for development, enhancement, implementation, and support of the IBM Rational Suite of tools including but not limited to ClearCase and ClearQuest.

The selected candidate will responsible for the Rational ClearCase environment, which includes performing all software upgrades/enhancements, working closely with developers to implement changes and perform daily maintenance (including the creation of ClearCase components, VOBs and granting access to developers). This individual will also provide secondary support for the Websphere environment.  

Rational ClearCase Duties and Responsibilities Include:

  • ClearCase Administration
  • Manage ClearCase access control
  • Manage views
  • Manage storage pools
  • Schedule tasks
  • Back-up and restore ClearCase objects
  • Administer ClearCase licenses
  • Install ClearCase
  • Manage VOBs
  • Websphere

Duties and Responsibilities Include: (WebSphere running in a Windows Server (Production) environment)

  • Participate in the creation and modification of standards and best practices concerning the WebSphere application servers and IHS(IBM HTTP server)
  • Provide technical advice and assistance to users concerning WebSphere application servers
  • Monitor WebSphere environments concerning capacity planning
  • Evaluate current WebSphere software parameters and recommend tuning efforts
  • Participate in testing and validation of new releases or maintenance upgrades to the WebSphere

Other Duties:

A. Collaborate with PENNDOT developers and partners to develop and implement information systems.

B. Implements server configurations, performs server sizing estimates and capacity planning.  

D. Assists in the development of configuration standards.

C. Evaluates, plans, and implements new server technology, including planning, deployment, 

and management of new server resources/technology.

D. Administers/enhances Rational ClearCase, provides secondary support for ClearQuest and WebSphere.

E. Develops new procedures and forms to improve efficiency.

F. Proactively identifies and resolves network issues.

G. Performs Server/Network Management functions using various management and monitoring tools available including sophisticated network and server management systems.

H. Establishes and documents standard procedures for operation, management, and monitoring.

I. Proactively plans for business continuity and disaster avoidance.

J. Creates/updates disaster recovery plans.

K. Perform related duties as required.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field or equivalent as well as a minimum of 5 years experience or Associates degree in computer science or related field and 7 years experience.
  • Specific knowledge required in the following areas:
  • Rational ClearCase    
  • Websphere
  • IIS
  • MS Server 2003, 2008
  • ClearQuest (Desired)
  • Rational Team Concert knowledge ( RTC)
  • IBM Jazz administration knowledge          
  • Strong knowledge of Windows and Windows products including Windows Server 2003, Windows 7, personal computer software set up and installation, PC connectivity products and PC hardware connectivity.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access)
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and meet work schedules within limited time frames and under tight deadlines and a willingness to work off hours as the need arises in support of changes to the LANs and WANs.
  • Effective verbal communication skills are required to work with all levels of the organization including management, vendors, and various PENNDOT personnel. Effective writing skills are required in order to document work performed.
  • Superior interpersonal and customer service skills required including ability to work effectively in a team environment. High level of proficiency in effective problem solving required.
