Position Summary

Basic Ready-Mix is seeking a detail-oriented, fast-thinking Dispatcher to join our Calhoun operations team. This is a key role at the heart of our daily operations — the Dispatcher coordinates the scheduling and delivery of ready-mix concrete from our plant to job sites across the region, ensuring every load arrives on time, to the right place, with the right mix. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment, communicate well under pressure, and take pride in keeping things running smoothly, we want to hear from you.

Why Basic Ready-Mix?

  • Locally operated, team-first culture
  • Stable, year-round employment
  • Competitive hourly pay, DOE
  • Opportunities to grow within the company
  • Work alongside experienced plant and ops teams
  • Be the hub that keeps daily operations moving
  • Monday–Friday schedule (some Saturdays as needed)
  • Calhoun and Dalton office locations

Key ResponsibilitiesOrder Management & Scheduling
  • Receive and process customer concrete orders, confirming mix design, yardage, delivery time, and job site details.
  • Enter all orders accurately into the dispatch system and generate complete delivery tickets for the plant.
  • Coordinate with CSRs and the Plant Manager to verify next-day orders and flag discrepancies before the shift begins.
  • Dynamically adjust truck schedules throughout the day to meet changing job site demands and pour windows.
  • Manage Will Call orders — do not dispatch until the customer's trigger call is received.
Driver & Fleet Coordination
  • Assign and dispatch mixer truck drivers to job sites based on schedule, geography, and truck availability.
  • Monitor truck status in real time to maintain on-time delivery performance and maximize truck utilization.
  • Communicate driver start times, job assignments, and return instructions clearly throughout the shift.
  • Coordinate inter-plant truck swaps with Plant Manager and General Manager approval when needed.
  • Track and document driver hours, load counts, and yardage against daily performance goals.
Customer & Field Communication
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customers calling to check on delivery status or make order changes.
  • Proactively notify customers and salespeople when a delivery is running behind schedule — never wait for them to call.
  • Resolve delivery conflicts, access issues, or load discrepancies quickly and professionally.
  • Support COD order management — confirm payment arrangements are in place before trucks are dispatched.
Documentation & Compliance
  • Maintain accurate daily dispatch logs including order details, driver assignments, delivery times, and any incidents.
  • Submit the COD log daily — even when there is no COD activity to report.
  • Assist with the Daily Operations Report and other morning paperwork as needed.
  • Ensure driver activity aligns with DOT hours-of-service guidelines and company policy.

KEY GOAL

Dispatcher performance is measured by on-time delivery rate, truck utilization (target: 4 loads/driver/day, 7 yds avg/load), and customer satisfaction. You are the link between the plant and the job site.

QualificationsRequired
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong communication skills — clear, calm, and professional under pressure.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-moving environment.
  • Basic math skills for tracking loads, yardage, and driver schedules.
  • Comfortable using computers, dispatch software, and phones simultaneously.
  • Reliable, punctual, and self-directed — this role requires minimal supervision.
Preferred
  • Prior dispatching, logistics, or construction industry experience.
  • Familiarity with ready-mix concrete operations, batching, or delivery logistics.
  • Experience with dispatch or plant management software (GEN3, Command, or similar).
  • Knowledge of the local road network and job site access considerations.
