Schedule: Wednesday - Saturday, 12am - 8am (graveyard), 32 hours per week

Position Summary
Underthesupervision oftheHope Center Men'sShelter Program Manager, theResident Advocatewillprovideoperationalandsupportservicesto all Men's Shelter clients.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Work with theProgram Manager to provide qualityservicedeliveryto all shelter clients.
  • Maintain supervision of clients and of shelter property at all times.
  • Articulate and enforce program and facility rules and procedures clearly and consistently with all clients.
  • Serve mealsutilizingServSafeprotocols.
  • Facilitate client chores.
  • Clean facilityareas, stripbeds,clean linensand restock cleaning supplies.
  • Update client Housing& EmploymentBoard.
  • Model a kind, compassionate, customer service philosophy in all interactions with clients andotherstaff.
  • Manage a comprehensive intake process ensuring that each new shelter client completes all intake paperwork and is fully knowledgeable of shelter policies and procedures.
  • Partner with the Program Manager toco-facilitateShelterResidentHouseMeetings twice a monthdocumenting meeting notes, when on-duty.
  • Attend allmonthlyShelterStaff Meetings.
  • Attend all Insight Housing Insight Housing All Staff Meetings.
  • Participate in all Emergency Drillswhen on-duty.
  • In collaboration with theShelterProgram Manager, ensure HMIS Data Qualitywhen entering all client notes.
  • Submit timely and comprehensive log entries,CriticalIncidentReportsand other documents, as needed.
  • Read all Insight Housing-relatedemailstoremain current on all important notices and requests.
  • Attend all Shift Change Cross-Over Meetings.
  • In collaborationwith theShelter ProgramManagerand ShelterHousingCase Manager,provide input on clientHousingPlansandserviceactivities.
  • Maintainclient file notes peragencyandcontractstandardsof confidentiality.
  • Workto accomplish allKey Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Provide emotionalsupport, empathy, problem solving, information and referral, mediation, crisis intervention and advocacy.
  • Understand and follow all shelter procedures as stated in the Insight HousingShelterPolicy & Procedures Manual.
  • Adhere to all Alameda County Shelter Standards.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding clients,personneland other internal agency affairs.
  • Work within the framework of the Insight Housing'sCode of Conduct.
  • Conduct business in accordance with the Employee Handbook, exercising sound judgment and serving the best interests of the Agency and the community.
  • Commit yourself to treating each community member with respect and dignity.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED with a minimum of 2 years prior experience in social service residential setting.
  • Experience with homeless and mentally ill population and commitment to issues related to homelessness required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, email, internet, and calendaring applications.
  • Experience with HMIS strongly preferred.
  • Ability to interact in and model a supportive and professional manner with staff and clients of diverse cultural and economic backgrounds required.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, complete multiple tasks in a timely manner, and work within a fast-paced environment.
  • Capacity to work well with other social service providers, city, and county staff.
  • Capacity to set priorities in consultation withtheShelterProgram Manager.
  • Good conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain professional conduct,attitudeand appearance at all times.
  • Capacity to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is
  • Regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel, or operate objects,toolsor controls, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, climb stairs, talk, hear, and see clearly.
  • May be occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch.
  • May be required to lift or move up to 50 lbs.
Special Requirements
  • Must be able to receive and maintain criminal records clearance.
  • Must be able to clear TB testing, Livescan/DOJ clearance, and Health Screening
