They work with technologies like JavaScript, GLSL (OpenGL Shading Language), and frameworks such as Three.js or Babylon.js. Their role includes optimizing performance, ensuring compatibility across devices, and integrating 3D elements with web applications. WebGL Developers often collaborate with designers and backend developers to create immersive web experiences.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the WebGL developer position, and why are they important?

To thrive as a WebGL Developer, you need strong skills in JavaScript, WebGL, 3D graphics programming, and a solid understanding of computer graphics principles, often supported by a relevant degree or portfolio. Familiarity with frameworks like Three.js or Babylon.js, as well as version control systems like Git, is typically required. Creative problem-solving, attention to detail, and effective collaboration skills set candidates apart in this role. These competencies are critical for creating interactive, high-performance visual experiences that meet project requirements and integrate smoothly with team workflows.

What types of projects do WebGL developers typically work on, and how collaborative is the role?

WebGL Developers are often involved in projects that range from interactive data visualizations and 3D modeling tools to complex web-based games and virtual experiences. The role is highly collaborative, frequently requiring close work with UI/UX designers, back-end developers, and project managers to bring visually engaging and responsive applications to life. Job description

About EliseAI
At EliseAI, we're improving the industries that matter most: housing and healthcare. Everyone needs a place to live and access to quality healthcare, yet both are often harder to secure than they should be.
By integrating AI agents deeply into existing workflows, we make them more efficient, reduce costs, and improve the experience for everyone.
  • Housing: We simplify how renters tour apartments, sign leases, submit maintenance requests, and stay connected with their property team-bringing everything they need for their home into one place.
  • Healthcare: We make it easy to schedule appointments, complete intake forms, and we help patients communicate with providers, so everyone can focus on health instead of paperwork.

With EliseAI, organizations reduce manual work, improve accessibility, and deliver a seamless experience across essential services. We recently raised a $250 million Series E round led by Andreessen Horowitz to accelerate this mission.
About The Role
We're hiring our first dedicated Frontend / Design Engineer to own the end-to-end user experience across our core products and marketing site. In this role, you'll operate at the intersection of design and engineering, establishing and implementing the design system, shaping the visual language of the platform, and rebuilding key interfaces to drive greater consistency, clarity, and usability.
Key Responsibilities
  • Partner closely with design, product, and engineering to develop, maintain, and evolve our design system, ensuring aesthetic cohesion and a scalable front-end architecture
  • Collaborate with PMs and engineers to align on requirements, feasibility, and sequencing, helping shape how features are built from concept through launch
  • Document patterns, promote consistency, and drive adoption of shared systems across teams
  • Own and define our process and approach to frontend development as the first design engineer, acting as a bridge between design intent and production code
  • Translate Figma designs into pixel-perfect, accessible, and performant interfaces with a focus on visual consistency and high-quality user experience
  • Design and implement thoughtful UI interactions and micro-interactions that enhance clarity, feedback, and usability across the product
  • Bring high-quality interaction patterns to life, including transitions, states, and responsive behaviors that make the interface feel polished and intuitive
  • Work closely with engineering to ensure components ship with the intended fidelity, reducing visual regressions and post-launch polish work
  • Refactor existing surfaces to implement the design system, improve usability, and unify the visual language across the product and marketing site
  • Attract top-tier talent to join our driven team

Move at rocket speed, build something massive.
We're scaling fast, solving real client problems with precision and ambition. Here, you own your impact; full autonomy, no micromanagement, no fluff.
We hire the best, expect the best, and give you the masterclass of your career. It's hard, it's intense, and it's the most rewarding work you'll ever do. If you're hungry, driven, and ready to build something massive, climb aboard.
Requirements
  • 2+ years of Javascript, Typescript, and React experience
  • Startup mindset with a strong sense of ownership, urgency, and pragmatism
  • Experience in a fast-paced and frequent code deployment environment
  • Strong understanding of interaction patterns, responsive layout systems, accessibility, usability principles, and visual design best practices
  • Proficient in Figma
  • Up-to-date on modern tools and developer workflows (Cursor, Vercel, etc.)
  • Ability to solve complex problems independently with minimal guidance
  • Willingness to work in person at our office 4-5 days a week

Bonus If You Have
  • Experience with advanced web animations and complex visual effects (three.js, webGL, anime.js, GSAP, etc.)
  • Experience with mobile design systems

Why Join
Growth and impact. It's not often that you can get in on the ground floor of a funded (unicorn!) startup that's scaling so fast. That means that instead of following a playbook, you'll be writing it. Every single day you will be challenged to identify how we can scale and execute on it. You'll learn what works when you succeed and what doesn't when you fail. Either way, the rest of the team will be here to support you.
Benefits
In addition to the growth and impact you'll have at EliseAI, we offer competitive salaries along with the following benefits:
  • Equity in the company
  • Medical, Dental and Vision premiums covered at 100%
  • Fully paid parental leave
  • Commuter benefits
  • 401k benefits
  • Fitness & home services stipend to cover part of your expenses so you can focus on what matters
  • A collaborative in-office environment with an open floor plan, fully stocked kitchen, and all meals covered in the office
  • Unlimited vacation and paid holidays
  • We'll cover relocation packages and make the move exciting, not painful!

Job Compensation Range
The salary range for this role is $170,000 - $200,000. EliseAI offers a competitive total rewards package which includes base salary, equity, and a comprehensive benefits & perks package. Exact compensation is determined based on a number of factors including experience, skill level, location and qualifications which are assessed during the interview process. Additional details about total compensation and benefits will be provided by our Recruiting Team during the hiring process.
