Job Summary/Description

WKYT is looking for an innovative producer/host for its talk and lifestyle program called "Everyday Kentucky".

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a program produced by the station's news department. The "Everyday Kentucky" producer /host works closely with the on-air talent, production department, sales team, and marketing and digital teams in creating compelling lifestyle content on-air and across digital platforms.

The "Everyday Kentucky" producer will create, lead, and organize content utilizing strong editorial, journalistic, organizational, and communication skills. We're looking for someone who drives the content of the show through compelling segments, guests, and interviews. The position requires creativity, passion, organizational skills, and innovation.

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Show Production: Write, organize, and produce the daily talk and lifestyle program, "Everyday Kentucky".
  • Content & Segment Development: Drive the creative direction of the show by pitching, designing, and structuring compelling lifestyle segments, booking high-quality guests, and planning engaging interviews.
  • Cross-Department Collaboration: Work closely with the program's hosts, the production crew, marketing/promotions, and the sales team to execute editorial and sponsored lifestyle integrations seamlessly.
  • Multi-Platform Digital Strategy: Adapt broadcast content into highly engaging web articles and social media assets (reels, video clips, and social posts) to build a robust digital footprint for the show.
  • On-Camera Presence: Conduct interviews or present segments on-air.
  • Journalistic Standards: Ensure all show elements maintain high editorial and journalistic standards, keeping local community connections at the heart of the broadcast.
Qualifications/Requirements Education

Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism, Communications, or a related field (required).

Technical Skills
  • Knowledge of and ability to operate state-of-the-art television newsroom and production equipment.
  • Proficiency with digital CMS platforms for website publishing.
  • Non-linear video editing skills (Premiere, EDIUS, or similar) are highly preferred.

  • A proven self-starter with exceptional organizational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, with an ability to work quickly and decisively under daily broadcast deadlines.
  • Passion for local community storytelling, food, travel, and lifestyle topics in Central and Eastern Kentucky.
Requirements

Must possess a valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
