Job Summary:
Under general supervision, this position is responsible for applying advanced programming techniques to design, evolve, and govern enterprise CI/CD platforms, container build infrastructure, and deployment of systems that support development teams across the organization. This position owns scalable, secure, and self-service build and release capabilities across Azure DevOps, GitHub, Kubernetes-based build agents, and related platform tooling. The incumbent ensures alignment with J.B. Hunt architectural standards while enabling teams to ship software faster, safer, and with appropriate security and compliance guardrails.
Job Description:
Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, and maintain enterprise CI/CD solutions across Azure DevOps and GitHub, including support for platform modernization initiatives and migration between delivery platforms.
  • Design, develop, and enhance Kubernetes-based container build infrastructure, including build pod design, caching strategies, registry management, and secure build approaches that support scalable software delivery.
  • Create, maintain, and improve shared pipeline templates, reusable software components, and self-service tooling used by development teams to accelerate delivery and improve consistency.
  • Contribute to application and platform architecture standards by defining and implementing scalable solutions for pipeline governance, security, compliance, release automation, and operational reliability.
  • Design and implement container and software supply chain solutions, including Docker build strategies, base image governance, vulnerability scanning, image signing, software bill of materials (SBOM) generation, and curated registry usage.
  • Analyze complex technical issues impacting build, deployment, and platform performance; troubleshoot root causes, implement effective solutions, and drive continuous improvement through optimization of caching, layer management, multi-stage builds, and parallelization techniques.
  • Design, develop, and support secure secret management solutions for build and release pipelines, including integration with enterprise credential management platforms and secure credential injection practices.
  • Provide technical leadership across engineering teams by conducting training, developing learning sessions and technical documentation, mentoring team members, contributing to Architecture Review Boards and standards committees, and serving as a subject matter expert for DevOps and platform engineering practices.
  • Collaborate with product, infrastructure, security, and engineering teams to evaluate emerging technologies, define implementation approaches, and deliver secure, maintainable, and scalable platform capabilities that meet business and technical requirements.
  • Lead modernization and continuous improvement initiatives by developing migration strategies, retiring legacy solutions, implementing new platform capabilities, communicating technical changes, and driving adoption of engineering best practices across development teams.

Bachelor's degree in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Technology, or related, or foreign equivalent with 5 years of experience in software engineering or related field, or suitable combination of education, experience, and training OR Master's degree in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Technology, or related field, or foreign equivalent with 3 years of experience in software engineering or related field, or suitable combination of education, experience, and training
AND Demonstration of the following:
  • Experience effectively participating in software and platform design processes, including evaluation of scalability, security, maintainability, and operational tradeoffs
  • Ability to complete tasks with a high quality of work in a timely manner
  • Professional experience leveraging an object-oriented language, such as Java or .NET/.netcore to implement RESTful and/or event driven architectures
  • Professional experience implementing web and/or mobile interfaces using JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks, such as Angular and React Native
  • Professional experience interacting with and managing the performance of relational, NoSQL, and Graph databases
  • In-depth experience with cloud-based containerization, Kubernetes platforms, and continuous integration/delivery strategies, including deployment automation and container lifecycle management
  • Experience troubleshooting complex software, build, deployment, and platform-related issues in distributed and cloud-based environments
  • Experience implementing and supporting enterprise CI/CD platforms, container technologies, and deployment automation solutions in large-scale engineering environments.
  • Strong understanding of software supply chain security practices, including vulnerability management, software bill of materials (SBOM) generation, image signing, and dependency governance.
  • Experience developing shared engineering platforms, reusable components, templates, and self-service capabilities that support multiple development teams

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, Kustomize, or similar.
  • Experience with progressive delivery or canary deployment tools such as Flagger.
  • Experience with JFrog Artifactory, Xray, or Curation for artifact and dependency governance.
  • Familiarity with Azure DevOps-to-GitHub migration strategies.
  • Experience with SonarQube or similar code quality platforms.
  • Background designing dynamic or ephemeral build agents on Kubernetes.

Position is located at the J.B. Hunt corporate campus in Lowell, AR.
Compensation:
Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include skills, education, experience, geography, and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This position may be eligible for annual bonus and incentives based on profitability or volumes in accordance with the terms of the Company's bonus and incentive plans, as applicable and in effect from time to time.
