Job description

Flexcompute is a cutting-edge technology startup that specializes in ultra-fast simulation technology. Our products are utilized by companies in designing and optimizing technology products, with applications ranging from designing airplanes and cars to wind turbines and quantum computing chips. Our customer base includes both household names and startups in emerging industries. Our company was founded by world-renowned leaders in simulation technology from Stanford University and MIT. Backed by top VC firms, we are poised to disrupt the billion-dollar engineering simulation industry with our fast-growing trajectory.

We are seeking a hands‑on software engineer to work on security projects across our web application, AWS, and on-premises high‑performance computing environment. This is a crucial role in supporting the company’s growth into regulated industries.

What you will do
  • Build and integrate technical security features and controls into our web application and internal administration platforms
  • Implement and maintain AWS security controls, including IAM, encryption, backups, logging, monitoring, and alerting
  • Securely orchestrate customer jobs and data across cloud and HPC environments
  • Build and respond to alerts from security logs covering both cloud and on‑premises hardware
  • Deploy and manage vulnerability scanning tooling; collaborate with developers to triage and remediate findings
  • Fix and validate remediations of penetration test findings
  • Harden and secure on‑premises HPC infrastructure
  • Maintain and improve compliance tooling integrations, identify gaps, and drive remediation efforts

Strong hands‑on engineering experience in at least one of:

  • Backend software engineering
  • DevOps / Infrastructure engineering
  • Security engineering, with a focus on building than maintenance

Experience securing cloud environments, ideally AWS

Familiarity with infrastructure‑as‑code (e.g., Terraform)

Experience deploying or working with CI/CD pipelines

Working knowledge of application and infrastructure security fundamentals

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for backend software engineers, devops engineers, or security engineers, as long as you are hands on and are interested in security. You will join a team of infrastructure engineers in an engineering‑first company which is at the frontiers of HPC‑based simulations. This is a role primarily focused on writing code.

Ideally you have experience in one or more of: building NIST 800-171 or NIST 800-53, compliance automation platforms, infrastructure‑as‑code, AWS security, developing CI/CD pipelines
