The State University of New York (SUNY) at New Paltz and The Hudson Valley Additive Manufacturing Center (HVAMC) invites applications for a part-time Senior Staff Assistant. This position will work under the Director and the Lead Researcher of the HVAMC. The primary role of the position is to provide 3D design and print services for internal constituents; students, faculty and staff, as well as with the wider community and reginal businesses. Responsibilities associated with this position are to assist in maintaining an orderly center with functional equipment and client management. The Senior Staff Assistant role supports daily operations across academic, production, design, and administrative functions. Throughout all tasks, the Senior Staff Assistant works closely with the Director and the Lead Researcher to ensure efficient workflow, timely completion of projects, and high-quality service for clients, students, and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Work with the Director and Lead Researcher to ensure a safe work environment and oversee undergraduate and graduate students working in the lab.
  • Respond to design and print inquiries via phone and email from campus and the wider community- providing 3D design and printing services.
  • Produce CAD files for external clients and as needed for HVAMC functions.
  • Ensure HVAMC equipment is maintained, operational, and the lab is organized.
  • Maintain inventory of materials, parts, and PPE, keep MDSD/SDS up to date
  • Perform administrative work as required, e.g., POs, work orders, etc.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in design, engineering or related field.
  • Technical know-how, excellent problem solving and trouble shooting ability.
  • Excellent time management and interpersonal skills, organized and communication
  • 4+ years designing in a CAD software (Rhino preferred)
  • 2+ years working with and maintaining FDM and PolyJet printers
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Flexibility to adapt to the changing needs of the HVAMC

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in design, Engineering, or related field.
  • 2+ years working in a university environment.
  • 2+ years working with clients in a design related field.
