Job description

Job Summary:
The Jr. Network Engineer will work with the Local, Regional, and Global IT Groups to support the lifecycle of corporate, local, and OT Networks to deliver the highest level of availability, performance and security.
Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the deployment of the network architecture and related roadmaps aligned with the corporate strategy and in cooperation with the global service provider for all North American sites
  • Manage global and local site network infrastructure troubleshooting, changes, and projects
  • Provide consulting & expertise to other teams
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives
  • Maximize network performance and stability through systems monitoring, resolving network problems and outages, and making improvements to the existing architecture
  • Monitor trends of systems and plan work to expand needs and capacity or develop enhancements to achieve or exceed business goals
  • Ensure continuous alignment with business requirements and successful project rollout
  • Collaborate closely with Local business, Industrial IT, Engineering, External IT teams, and other operational teams to achieve success in a cross functional environment.
  • Follow all plant policies and practices to ensure safety, quality, and cost objectives are met
  • Ensure good housekeeping of all work areas
  • Accurately complete all paperwork and data entry to support job tasks

Key accountabilities:
  • Manage and Engineer technical solutions in cooperation with the Service Provider for
  • WAN and LAN connectivity
  • Routers, firewalls, and security
  • Remote access solution support
  • Voice over IP
  • Implement and support enhancement/changes
  • Perform network assessments and security audits
  • Produce and maintain design and operational documentation for the network infrastructure
  • Monitor and test system performance for potential bottlenecks, identify possible solutions
  • Perform network hardware replacement and firmware upgrades
  • Provide Guidance to internal Stakeholders on implementing infrastructure solutions
  • Participate in Incident, Problem, Service Request and Change Management
  • Securing network systems by establishing and enforcing policies, and defining and monitoring access

Qualifications (Leadership and Technical Skills Required):
  • Bachelors degree in Engineering or Computer Science, or equivalent degree is preferred
  • 3+ years of experience in the administration and support of a large enterprise network with the ability to operate in a complex global infrastructure
  • Ability to isolate and resolve network performance and communication issues to ensure maximum uptime and reliability
  • Knowledge in the following areas:
    • Cisco Products/Solutions (Switches, Routers, Firewalls, Access Points, ISE, WLAN Controllers, etc.)
    • VoIP Network Infrastructure Configuration, Microsoft Teams in relation to network setup
    • VLANs, Trunks, Quality of Service, Policy Based Routing, LAN/WAN, WLAN Connectivity, DHCP, NAT
    • Static/Dynamic Routing protocols including BGP, OSPF
    • VPN, IPSec Tunnels
    • Network/Web proxy servers
    • Network troubleshooting/tracing tools such as Wireshark
    • Automated Systems Monitoring (Solarwinds preferred)
  • Knowledge on the following Products is a plus
    • Zscaler cloud security services
    • Checkpoint Security Appliances
    • SCADA Devices
    • Cisco DNA
    • SDWAN
  • Strong documentation and communication skills, Visio experience
  • Basic Project Management Skills
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
  • Good communication skills and some experience with presenting to a team or group.
  • Ability to work effectively to perform in a team-oriented, manufacturing environment
  • Pragmatism to analyze and manage incidents/problems and develop solutions to resolve them
  • Act as change agent and to facilitate continuous improvement
  • Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment examination, background check, and drug screen
