Job description

The Center for Communication Programs (CCP) located at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health is seeking a Graphic Designer III. The Graphic Designer III will offer visual communication solutions for a range of strategic projects with responsibilities for creative design and overall creative concepts and production for the execution of projects. The Designer will play a lead role in collaboration with other creative staff and departmental stakeholders.

The Designer will work collaboratively on creative projects and use strong design skills and an aesthetic that demonstrates an understanding of current and emerging trends. Specific Duties & Responsibilities Work independently and in cross-functional groups on a variety of strategic communications projects that require creative problem-solving and concepting. Serve in a lead design role on cross-functional teams to ensure that print and digital design work is of highest quality, consistent, and supports the goals of the project.

Create a wide range of visual materials, e.g. logos, signage, annual reports, ads, publications, branded collateral, social media graphics, event promotions, image creation, and motion graphics. Direct photo shoots and illustration assignments

Partner with editors, writers, web and video professionals, and other stakeholders to develop holistic creative solutions. Serve as a brand ambassador and communicate and educate colleagues on creative and brand tools and assets. Work on multiple projects concurrently while meeting deadlines and following schedules.

Contribute to creative concept presentations to leadership and others. Ensure proper balance of form and function in all materials. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design, Fine Arts or related field. Four years of related experience and a portfolio. Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond a high school diploma/ graduation equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

Preferred Qualifications Proficiency with a Mac using Adobe Creative Suite and emerging technologies. Website design experience. DSLR photography experience.

Proficiency in Project Management Software (Smartsheet). Video production knowledge including After Effects and Adobe Premiere technical skills. Technical Skills & Expected Level of Proficiency Animation - Intermediate Branding - Intermediate Concept Art - Advanced Creative Tool Proficiency - Intermediate Editing - Intermediate Graphic Design - Advanced Needs Assessment - Intermediate The core technical skills listed are most essential; additional technical skills may be required based on specific division or department needs.
