Web Designer Front End Developer information

What is a web designer front end developer?

Web Designer Front End Developers are professionals who combine creative design skills with technical coding abilities to build the visual and interactive elements of websites. They focus on how a website looks and feels, using tools like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to implement designs that are user-friendly and responsive. Their work ensures that websites are not only visually appealing but also function smoothly across different devices and browsers. They often collaborate with back end developers and clients to bring website concepts to life.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a web designer front end developer?

To thrive as a Web Designer Front End Developer, you need strong skills in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and a solid grasp of design principles, often supported by a relevant degree or portfolio. Proficiency with tools and frameworks like Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, React, or Angular is typically expected. Creativity, problem-solving, and effective communication help you translate client needs into engaging, user-friendly interfaces. These skills are crucial for delivering high-quality, visually appealing, and functional websites that meet user and business goals.

How do web designer front end developers typically collaborate with back-end developers and other team members on a project?

Web Designer Front End Developers work closely with back-end developers, UX/UI designers, and project managers to ensure seamless integration between the visual elements and the underlying functionality of a website or application. Collaboration often involves regular meetings, sharing design mockups, and using version control tools like Git to coordinate code changes. Effective communication and responsiveness to feedback are essential, as front end developers must translate design concepts into interactive, responsive web interfaces while ensuring compatibility and performance across different devices and browsers.

Voltera is a rapidly scaling and profitable Canadian tech company that has been driving change in the additive electronics industry since 2013. Our customers span 92 countries and use our products to improve quality of life and push the boundaries of what electronics can do. From developing electronics skin to exploring space, our products support some of the world’s most exciting engineering endeavors.

Our first product, the V-One PCB printer, integrates drilling through-holes, printing conductive materials, dispensing solder paste, and reflowing circuits to enable fast iteration of circuit board designs. Our second product, the NOVA materials dispensing system, offers precision dispensing of functional materials on both flexible and rigid substrates for flexible hybrid electronics prototyping and materials research.

As we continue to tackle new challenges, we are looking for ambitious, talented individuals to join the adventure. We are a tight-knit, mission-driven team. You will be supported by people who care, challenged to grow, and trusted to make a real impact.

About the Job

  • Manage and maintain Voltera’s martech stack, including HubSpot for contact management, sequences, emails, newsletters, forms, and analytics
  • Identify opportunities to improve workflows, automate repetitive tasks, and increase operational efficiency
  • Develop and maintain audience segments, lists, lifecycle stages, and other crucial campaign attribution structures
  • Maintain documentation for marketing systems, processes, workflows, and integrations
  • Contribute to marketing campaigns across email, web, digital advertising, and other channels, ensuring they are executed correctly, optimized, and delivered on schedule
  • Coordinate with content, creative, product marketing, sales, and other stakeholders to ensure campaign readiness
  • Investigate sales funnel leaks and collaborate with the marketing and sales teams on methods to improve lead engagement and conversion
  • Build and maintain marketing dashboards and generate recurring performance reports
  • Track marketing metrics, such as campaign performance, lead generation, conversion rates, pipelines, acquisition costs, and ROI and translate the data into clear, actionable recommendations for improvements
  • Work with the Content Marketer and Front-End Developer to support day-to-day marketing website operations, including content updates, forms, tracking, and SEO implementation
  • Oversee campaign budgets and conduct regular AB testing and reporting
  • Research, track, and analyze end-to-end customer behaviors using tools like Microsoft Clarity and implement findings into marketing initiatives
  • Collaborate with internal teams to understand the customer experience and optimize conversion

Working conditions

  • Working from the office in Waterloo at least three days per week.

About You

  • Post-secondary education in marketing and 5+ years of relevant work experience

  • Demonstrable experience:
    • Leading paid advertising and email marketing campaigns
    • Using HubSpot, Google Ads, Google Search Console, Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Semrush, and other tools in our martech stack
    • Running A/B and multivariate experiments
    • Contributing to inbound and outbound marketing programs
    • Evaluating the customer journey and optimizing for conversion

Nice to haves

  • Experience with web accessibility standards and guidelines
  • Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, or JavaScript

Why We’re Awesome

  • Three weeks' vacation to start, plus a paid end-of-year company shutdown.
  • Flexible work hours.
  • Family-friendly work culture.
  • Collaborative work environment.
  • Located in the growing tech hub of Waterloo, Ontario, close to restaurants and easily accessible by public transit.
