Job Title: Office Assistant - Web & Digital
Effective Date: 07/22/2026
Reports to: Senior Manager of Web & Digital Strategy
Department: Communications & Marketing
Rate of Pay: Maryland Minimum Wage
FSLA Status: Non-Exempt
Location of Position: Winslow, McDaniel College, 2 College Hill, Westminster, MD 21157
Duration of Appointment: August 5, 2026 to May 25, 2027
Schedule: Schedule is at discretion of supervisor
Evaluation Procedures: Student workers are evaluated on a continuous basis.
Scope: The Office of Communications and Marketing (OCM) is looking for a student worker to support the department's web and digital marketing efforts. This position assists with a variety of miscellaneous web and digital tasks as needed, helping the department stay organized and responsive to requests from across campus. Students with an interest in web design, digital marketing, photography, or videography are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities:
  • Support website content updates, including migrating content, updating content as directed by the web team, maintaining the faculty/staff directory, and completing basic content requests from department chairs and offices across campus.
  • Conduct internet and social media research.
  • Identify and resolve 404 crawl errors and fix dead links.
  • Create vanity URLs and 301 redirects.
  • Assist the social media manager in gathering content at student events, which may include carrying equipment and attending events in the evenings or on weekends.
  • Support general administrative tasks for the web and digital team.
Requirements:
  • Current undergraduate student at McDaniel College.
  • Comfortable using computers and learning new tools and systems.
  • Detail-oriented and able to follow instructions carefully.
  • Reliable and able to manage time well.
  • Willing to ask questions and learn new tasks as needed.
  • Experience with Content Management Systems, Social Media platforms, or Canva a plus but not required.
  • Have availability to work during regular business hours, with the potential of some evening/weekend assignements.
    • Regular business hours consist of Monday to Friday, 8:30AM to 4:30PM.
Working Conditions:
The Office of Communications and Marketing is located on the ground floor of Winslow Center. This is an on-campus, in-person position. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is routinely working in a normal office environment with minimal exposure to adverse conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually minimal.
Physical Abilities:
The physical demands described below are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this internship:
  • This position requires sitting for long periods of time at a computer.
  • This position may occasionally involve lifting. Must be able to lift 20+ pounds.
  • Finger/hand dexterity is required.
  • Must be able to carry and set-up equipment and be available on nights and weekends when necessary.
