What is web design?

Web design is the process of creating the visual layout, user interface, and overall aesthetic of websites. It involves selecting color schemes, fonts, images, and the arrangement of elements to ensure a site is visually appealing and easy to navigate. Web designers also focus on usability, accessibility, and responsive design so that websites look and function well on all devices. Their work often bridges creativity and technical skills, working closely with developers and clients to bring digital ideas to life.

How does a web designer typically collaborate with developers and other team members during a project?

Web designers frequently work closely with developers, project managers, and content creators to ensure that website designs are both visually appealing and technically feasible. Collaboration often involves participating in regular team meetings, sharing design prototypes, and providing detailed specifications for developers. Designers are also expected to adapt their designs based on feedback from stakeholders and technical constraints, making strong communication skills essential. This teamwork ensures a smooth workflow from concept to live website, resulting in a user-friendly and functional final product.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a web designer, and why are they important?

Job description

DESCRIPTION:The Blue Square Alliance Against Hate was founded in 2019 by Robert Kraft to stand up to Jewish hate and hate of all kinds. We uniquely reach unengaged, non-Jewish Americans, inspiring them to become allies through empathy-building national mass media, social advertising, and culturally relevant storytelling. We partner with and convene diverse leaders, organizations, and communities to build awareness and understanding, while our Command Center monitors the digital landscape 24/7 to understand where and how hate is spreading and conducts national research to inform our work.

SUMMARY:

The Digital Design Associate will play a key role in shaping the Alliance's visual identity across digital, print, and internal channels, with a primary focus on social media and website design. The ideal candidate is a versatile designer who can bring ideas from concept through execution across a wide range of creative needs, including social media content, website assets, print materials, presentations and slide decks, and other internal- and external-facing designs. The role will also support video editing needs, including social-first video content, sizzle reels, and other video projects.

  3. Offline & Cross-Channel Design
    1. Produce print and offline assets such as one pagers, sales collateral, and merchandise as needed.
    2. Adapt digital designs for use in presentations, reports, and other cross-functional materials.
    3. Maintain consistency across all touchpoints, reinforcing FCAS's visual identity.
  4. Collaboration & Innovation
    1. Work closely with internal teams (e.g., social, content, paid media) to ensure cohesive campaign execution.
    2. Stay current on design trends, platform updates, and emerging tools to continuously elevate creative output.
    3. Contribute to brainstorms and creative planning sessions with fresh ideas and design perspectives.
  5. Special projects and assignments as business dictates
