What you’ll do:

Product Development creates and executes products based upon vision and voids directed by the Merchants and Managers. They ensure the timely shipment of delivering the right product to our customers with exceptional trend and quality. Our teams develop strong customer service and working relationships with external vendors and internal stakeholders, such as Agents, Buyers, Merchants, and other teams to deliver the right product to our customers. They regularly shop all levels of stores including our own and competitors for fashion, trends, color direction, and value.

As a Product Development Intern, you will help implement key product designs and merchandising initiatives while assisting with daily activities and assigned projects. Depending on your interests, expertise, and our business needs, you could focus on one of four possible roles:

/ Product Development Specialist

  • Manage a product life cycle: create and execute product based upon vision and void directed by the Merchants and Managers.
  • Work with various teams to manage product from idea to distribution to retail stores.

/ Designer

  • Support with everything in the creative process through production: research, sketching, color, trend, and other aspects that go into designing apparel and home products.

/ Technical Designer

  • Act as a liaison between the design teams and the Buyers to turn ideas into finished products.
  • Anticipate any design issues and ensure specifications are adjusted accordingly.

/ Sourcing

  • Partner with Product Development Team on the development and negotiation of license brand products.
  • Negotiate pricing and determine order placement based on factory capabilities, quality, and capacity/delivery.

Who we are looking for:
We are looking for students who are highly motivated self-starters and who possess the ability to prioritize effectively, be proactive and flexible, and demonstrate a strong bias for action in a fast-paced, professional environment.

Key Qualifications:

  • Current sophomores & juniors
  • Students pursuing a degree in Fashion/Home Product Design, Merchandising, Business or equivalent.
  • Genuine interest in a Product Development career

Additional qualifications include:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Office Suite)
  • PC skills, including Microsoft Office, PLM, Web PDM, Adobe Illustrator
  • Problem solving through thinking analytically and creatively
  • Excellent communicators who work well in teams
  • Students with proven leadership abilities and strong work ethic
  • Flexible, adept at handling change, willingness to learn

With our corporate office located in Framingham, MA, reliable transportation is required as TJX is not easily accessible to public transportation. A variable work schedule is part of the role and based on the needs of the business.

This position has a starting pay range of $22.50 to $24.50 per hour. Actual starting pay is determined by a number of factors, including relevant skills, qualifications, and experience.
