Job description

InPlay Global is a Miami-based innovative start-up creating the first SEC regulated securities tied to the real-time performance of college and professional sports teams. As a new financial asset class, Performance Securities™ are pioneering the future of trading at the intersection of sports, data, and capital markets.

We are looking for a Chief Technology Officer that will lead and drive the end-to-end delivery of complex initiatives that power our corporate technology and trading platforms. This role will be responsible for designing, developing, enhancing, and supporting applications that power trading, operations, compliance, client onboarding, and reporting workflows.

The ideal candidate has strong hands-on experience across front-end and back-end technologies, understands financial services systems, and is comfortable working in a highly regulated broker-dealer environment. This individual will collaborate closely with business stakeholders, compliance, operations, product owners, and technology vendors to deliver secure, scalable, and reliable software solutions.

Software development
  • Lead end-to-end management of software development projects, including new features, platform enhancements, and customer driven initiatives.
  • Develop secure and scalable back-end services, APIs, integrations, and data workflows.
  • Support applications related to account opening, client onboarding, trade processing, order management, compliance review, reporting, document management, and supervisory workflows.
  • Integrate with third-party platforms, custodians, clearing firms, market data providers, CRM systems, compliance tools, and regulatory reporting systems.
  • Collaborate with business analysts, compliance officers, operations teams, and vendors to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Ensure applications comply with information security, data privacy, audit, and regulatory requirements applicable to broker-dealers.
  • Participate in architecture discussions, code reviews, sprint planning, and technical design sessions.
  • Troubleshoot production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement long-term fixes.
  • Support data integrity, reporting accuracy, and system availability across critical business applications.
Technical coordination & integration
  • Define project scope, schedules, milestones, dependencies, and resourcing in alignment with product and engineering leads.
  • Coordinate integration of software modules developed by external partners or third-party vendors into the InPlay platform.
  • Ensure technical requirements, interface specifications, and integration timelines are understood across all participating teams.
  • Support internal engineering with organisation of API, data exchange, and workflow interactions between modules.
  • Facilitate Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, standups, backlog reviews, and release readiness discussions.
  • Track progress, identify risks, and drive cross-team alignment to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Communicate clear updates on timelines and project readiness to leadership.
  • Assist with technical deployment tasks for enterprise environments.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies, development practices, cybersecurity standards, and financial technology trends.
What you bring
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, Information Systems or related technical field.
  • 4+ years of experience in software development with a focus on system integration.
  • Experience working with distributed development teams (onshore and/or offshore).
  • Familiarity with financial IT infrastructure, networking, and security protocols.
  • Experience with API integrations and SaaS deployments.
  • Regularly use AI tools to assist with coding, debugging, design, and documentation.
  • Excellent organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Bonus points
  • Hands-on experience with cloud-native applications and Infrastructure as Code (IaC), preferably utilising Azure and/or Google.
  • Experience with Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines, ensuring efficient and automated software delivery processes.
  • Advanced knowledge of HTML, CSS, and responsive web design principles.
  • In-depth understanding of microservices architecture with a solid understanding of software engineering principles and practices with experience with GenAI and large language models (LLM).
