Position Description:
Supports ongoing internal, external, online and offline written communications and content initiatives related to brand storytelling and communications for Goodwill of Central and Northern Arizona (GCNA) and its affiliated entities. Based in Frederick, MD, the CSC will proactively drive strategic communications and content creation (photography) initiatives in support of acquisition, reputation and retention. The CSC will report to the Sr. Director of Strategic Communications and will support the Sr. Manager, MD Marketing in growing revenue and societal impact.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Brainstorms content and writes copy for organization campaigns including bi-monthly job seeker e-blasts, print and online advertisements, brochures, web copy, and additional creative outlets.
  • Provides consistency across internal and external communications for brand voice and messaging.
  • Writes content that drives traffic to retail stores, captures attention for hiring sprees and other events, and brings awareness to Goodwill's mission.
  • Develops and updates key brand messaging through creative writing for various platforms including, blogs, emails, and text campaigns, and assists with content for social media platforms and video creation.
  • Works with the in-house and agency teams to create persuasive and engaging content that drives conversations and gets remembered.
  • Maintains a process for securing mission and writing-related success stories and continues to find ways to integrate into Goodwill's storytelling process.
  • Supports outlining of project timelines and collaborates with the marketing team to determine project components and due dates.
  • Develops general organizational content including annual reports, website content, organization nominations, and more.
  • Works with various individuals throughout the organization to support the crafting of written messages to a wide variety of audiences.
  • Turns complex information into engaging, informative, and memorable content that connects with multiple audiences.
  • Conceptualizes ideas and outlines storyboard content and copy for external and internal videos.
  • Adapts to audience and writes in different tones to drive reaction.
  • Collaborates with development of media and radio talking points.
  • Collaborates with content scheduling and copywriting of Gazette articles, including obtaining photography and coordination of accompanying graphics.
  • Self-educates on new content channels, technologies, and methods to increase overall effectiveness.

  • Maintains regular and consistent in-person attendance.
  • Perform other related duties, as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills):
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in, Marketing, Advertising, Communications, English, Anthropology, Business, or another related field, required.
  • Minimum 3 years' advertising agency experience as a Marketing Copywriter and/or Content Creator, developing copy and visuals for digital ad campaigns, email marketing, internal communications, leadership communications, and blogs/websites.
  • Demonstrated excellence in written communication skills, including AP, news, business, persuasive writing, and writing for varied forms of media.
  • Strong grammatical, proofreading and consistency using and creating style guides.
  • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills including proven effectiveness in one-on-one, group communications, and media relations.
  • Demonstrated project management skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Strong history of quickly building relationships, gaining credibility and partnering with department leaders and peers.
  • Excellent internet search and navigation techniques required.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Strong MS Office skills.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screen, where applicable for position.
  • Ability to speak and read English proficiently.
