Senior Web Applications Developer

Haymarket Media, Inc. is seeking a Senior Developer to join the Web Applications/Services team. This position is located in our New York, NY office on a hybrid work schedule; three (3) days in office depending on business needs.

Job Overview:

The ideal candidate for this position is a detail focused leader and self starter who is comfortable working on a lean, highly productive development team. As a Haymarket Senior Applications/Services Developer you are a hands‑on individual who is motivated by the combination of good object oriented design with high performance microservice programming to build smart extensible, reusable, and scalable applications. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of solid Web API and data centric application experience, and can bring to the table architectural and design ideas.

This role's scope includes building and maintaining several important and high visibility services and applications, including: identity/access management, data‑intensive internal applications, middleware connecting various 3rd parties and SaaS products, and specialized APIs serving targeted business and operational needs.

You will need to be a great communicator and team player helping to bridge the gap between product, business requirements, technical constraints. You keep an eye on performance and stay up‑to‑date on emerging technologies and trends to understand how they could be applied here at Haymarket. Mentoring and providing guidance for junior developers is critical to this role and the team at large.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop new user-facing and backend features in collaboration with product
  • Deliver functional - testable code on or before due dates
  • Produce strong documentation for both internal teams and external partners
  • Work in a ticketed workflow system
  • Build reusable code and libraries
  • Optimize application for speed and scalability
  • Collaborate with team members and stakeholders
  • Integrate with other engineering teams on a project basis

Skills And Qualifications:

  • Thorough grounding in C# (.Net Core/.Net 5<)
  • Serverless and cloud hosting (AWS preferred)
  • Proficient in SQL (SQL Server) and Entity Framework
  • Experience with front-end component libraries (Telerik preferred)
  • Experience with CI/CD
  • Experience in microservices
  • Proficient understanding of OOP standards, C# Solid Principles and design patterns
  • Proficient understanding of Git
  • Experience with observability platforms (New Relic/Google Cloud Monitoring)
  • Knowledge of TDD
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent work experience

Nice To Have Skills:

  • Swagger/OpenAPI based documentation
  • Powershell scripting
  • Experience building Blazor applications
  • Good understanding of ADA accessibility principles and ensuring that application will adhere to them
