Position Summary
The part-time web Designer / Developer is a key position within the Communications Department and reports to the Assistant Director of Communications and External Engagement. This position is responsible for the design, organization, functionality, accessibility, navigation, and overall usability of the University Health Center's website, the Well-being Resources website, and other websites in the Well-being Resources Portfolio. Serving as the primary technical resource for website development, maintenance, and support across the University Health Center and Well-being Resources portfolio, this position applies advanced technical knowledge to analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve complex web, database, hosting, and application issues. The position independently manages multiple web-based projects and provides technical recommendations to department leadership regarding website functionality, accessibility, user experience, and related technologies.
This position works closely with clients to ensure the website supports the instruction, research, and outreach initiatives that sustain the unit's overall mission. Additional responsibilities include maintenance of the UHC Staff/Policy Portal, external websites, and web-based programs as well as user support, database architecture and management, server management and troubleshooting, cloud services architecture, and API integrations related to UHC business operations.

  • Researches and implements current trends in web design.
  • Ensures information on UHC websites is clearly presented, aesthetically designed, user-friendly, accurate, and current.
  • Identifies new and ongoing web-based needs.
  • Designs database architecture and maintains database resources for the Health Center and Student Affairs applications.
  • Maintains and troubleshoots hosting solutions for the Health Center and Student Affairs websites and applications.
  • Develops and maintains 3rd party vendor API integrations for the Health Center systems.
  • Updates and maintains locally hosted code repositories related to Health Center business operations.
  • Maintains and supports cloud-hosted resources, databases, integrations, and hosting environments while recommending improvements and resolving complex technical issues.
  • Analyzes and resolves complex website functionality, accessibility, and performance issues across multiple web platforms.
  • Configures, maintains, and troubleshoots website hosting environments, databases, and content management systems.

  • Works collaboratively with Asst. Director of Communications and Asst. Director of Information Technology, UHC staff, and other stakeholders to analyze, prioritize and develop web-based processes in a timely manner.
  • Provides staff demonstrations, tutorials, troubleshooting, and general assistance for the Health Center and Student Affairs websites and applications.
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with stakeholders across campus, including executive-level administrators in Student Affairs.
  • Assesses and proposes applicable UHC and Student Affairs Azure / AWS resources, as well as server/database systems, ensuring project-based access and authority for integration and implementation.
  • Assists with graphic design, photography, and other Marketing Communications tasks as needed.
  • Produces video content for the Health Center and Student Affairs.
  • Assists departments in identifying appropriate technology tools and resources to support program objectives.
  • Provides technical training, demonstrations, and support to website contributors and departmental users.
