Purpose of the PositionThe Sales and Application Engineer is responsible for achieving sales goals for Kistler’s Traffic Solutions group. This role oversees sales performance, business development, and technical support for the Traffic Solutions group across North America.


Main Tasks


  • Achieve sales targets and drive the growth of Kistler’s Traffic and Infrastructure group by providing Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) products and services across North America
  • Manage and support system integrator accounts, Department of Transportation (DOT) customers, partners, and other key stakeholders.
  • Provide technical and sales support through customer visits, web meetings, phone, and email, including technical quotes and commercial proposals.
  • Develop new projects, business opportunities, strategic partnerships, and customer relationships to expand market presence and drive sales.
  • Maintain strong knowledge of market trends, customer needs, and competitive activity; provide insights to support sales and marketing strategies.
  • Share technical knowledge and best practices with internal teams and collaborate with sales and application specialists across the Americas and globally.
  • Manage territory activity and sales opportunities through the company CRM system to ensure accurate tracking, reporting, and follow-up.
  • Execute sales and business strategies in alignment with annual targets and objectives.
  • Support marketing initiatives, including trade shows, seminars, customer events, and promotional activities.
  • Collaborate with Marketing and internal teams to develop content and materials that promote Kistler Traffic Solutions and its products to customers, partners, and employees.
Requirements Profile
  • Bachelor’s degree in business and or Engineering preferred
  • Minimum of 5+ years experience in B2G sales of capital equipment in traffic sector (ANPR/LPR cameras, Weigh-in-Motion (WIM) Systems, Roadside Units (RSU), or related ITS equipment)
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in sales management, project management or large accounts management
  • Experience in the application of sensors, electronics and devices for Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) applications
  • Knowledge of network communications equipment, devices and protocols
  • Knowledge of systems engineering and integration
  • Preferred experience with weigh-in-motion (WIM) and/or structural health monitoring (SHM) is a plus
  • Strong organizational skills and systematic approach
  • Physical requirements: ability to lift -50 pounds unassisted.
  • Ability to travel (>50%) in United States and Canada and occasional international travel as required.
