Bay Cove Human Services’ mission is to partner with people to overcome challenges and realize personal potential. Bay Cove pursues this mission by providing individualized and compassionate services to people facing the challenges associated with developmental disabilities, mental illness, substance use disorders, and homelessness at more than 175 program sites throughout Greater Boston and Southeastern Massachusetts.

Job Summary: 

Senior Developer/Systems Analyst is responsible for the full lifecycle of web application development and support, with an emphasis on modern, responsive front-end interfaces and robust, back-end systems in Python,Django and Coldfusion. This role requires proficiency in both legacy and contemporary tools, contributing to scalable, maintainable, and user-friendly software solutions that advance Bay Cove Human Services' mission.

Essential Functions of Position:

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain full stack web applications using:
    Python/Django

    • Microsoft SQL Server (T-SQL, stored procedures)

  • Modern front-end frameworks and tools, including:

    • HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript (ES6+), JSON

    • Bootstrap 4 and 5

    • Datatables.js and other data visualization libraries

    • Gulp for task automation

    • Yarn and NPM for package management

  • Migrate legacy apps from Adobe ColdFusion to Python/Django; Support legacy apps as needed.

  • Build user interfaces that are accessible, responsive, and visually consistent using modern design tools such as Canva or Figma and Confluence (for mockups and prototyping).

  • Work closely with stakeholders to gather and refine requirements.

  • Lead or participate in project planning, code reviews, and documentation processes.

  • Manage and mentor junior developers on best practices in full stack development.

  • Create and maintain reusable components and code libraries.

  • Collaborate with project managers and stakeholders to develop and execute test plans and ensure high-quality releases.

  • Provide Tier 2/3 application support and troubleshoot production issues.

  • Stay current with emerging technologies and propose relevant improvements.

  • Contribute to improving internal development processes.

  • Participate in agency-wide IT planning and strategy sessions.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in Python/Django ColdFusion web application development.

  • Strong working knowledge of front-end technologies and responsive web design.

  • Can work easily with CFFILE, Session and Application Variables, etc.

  • Experience in working with MS SQL Server databases.

  • Understanding of web services and API integration.

  • Demonstrated ability to stay current with relevant technologies and applications.

  • Familiarity with UI/UX design principles and tools such as Canva, Figma, or Adobe XD

  • Experience with Python Django web development is a favorable

  • Knowledge of health care environment, particularly mental health, developmental services or substance abuse services, is preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a culturally diverse work community.

  • Ability to work collaboratively as a member of multidisciplinary teams.

  • Professional documentation and communication skills, as well as demonstrated organizational skills.

  • Ability to function under pressure in a fast-paced human service environment.

  • Ability to be flexible, open and responsive to ongoing industry changes.

  • Ability to identify opportunities and obstacles and develop effective, creative solutions to pursue opportunities.
