Job description

Job Summary:

The Graphic Designer is responsible for conceptualizing and executing print and digital solutions that align with OSV’s strategic objectives by creating concepts, comps, layouts and final art within established guidelines and deadlines.

As part of a centralized team, this position will work with cross-functional stakeholders to produce cohesive, brand-aligned visual assets across all departments, products, and services for both internal and external customers.

This position will produce assets in support of customer-focused marketing campaigns, create branded digital assets, engaging presentations, and produce high-quality print collateral, promotional materials such as brochures, flyers, signage, and direct mail pieces. The Graphic Designer will manage content consistency across platforms, and support sales efforts with tailored marketing resources. This role ensures consistent application of design standards while supporting a wide array of internal and external initiatives.

Success in this role requires exceptional customer service, clear communication, and technical proficiency, while offering strong creative skills to all stages of design production, from concept development to proofing and final delivery.

The Graphic Designer must demonstrate a high level of proficiency in design, web and/or multimedia software and applications, such as Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft PowerPoint.

Essential Job Functions (*=Non-essential tasks):

  • Work with Associate Director of Design to ensure consistency of the brand image/message
  • Develop high quality visual content for OSV’s products and services including marketing materials, customer campaigns, presentations, digital assets, and print collateral
  • Collaborate with internal departments and external customers to understand project goals and translate them into effective design solutions
  • Uphold and evolve brand guidelines to ensure consistency across all touchpoints
  • Participating in creative reviews
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and maintaining quality
  • Prepare final artwork for production and ensure accuracy in output across media formats
  • Work with internal and external customers to maintain schedules, manage priorities, maintain high quality standards, and budget
  • Effectively communicate and coordinate work with other designers and individuals both inside and outside of the organization
  • Develop creative design to fulfill internal marketing needs including materials for OSV programs and advertising projects, as well as customer needs, including, but not limited to, logo design, brochures, creative layouts for publications
  • Follow OSV’s Catholic design aesthetics and standards
  • Provide accuracy in design and file preparation for print, html email, and internet posting
  • Remain current on latest trends and styles in marketing and design
  • Maintain confidentiality of themes, directions, pricing, vendors, tactics, and marketing materials
  • Collaborating with other departments on various projects
  • Promote positive relationships and effective communication with co-workers and department managers
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements:

Experience:

  • Strong understanding of the Catholic Church and parish life
  • Extensive experience with programs including Adobe InDesign, Adobe PhotoShop, Adobe Illustrator, and Acrobat Pro
  • Minimum of 0-3 years of creative experience in an agency, corporate advertising, or design/marketing department
  • Must possess a strong portfolio of work with outstanding design, typographic, and production skills
  • Understanding of HTML and knowledge of Web-based content management systems such as WordPress preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint and able to work with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • A thorough understanding of four-color prepress principles and their application in a Macintosh OS environment
  • Self-motivated individual who instinctively provides creative inspiration and out-of-the-box thinking
  • Ability to communicate effectively, make presentations, and contribute to a positive team environment
  • Ability to take direction, accept feedback, rework as needed, and work in a creative team environment both independently and when directed
  • Flexible, organized, self-starter who can handle multiple projects simultaneously

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design/arts or related discipline; commensurate education and work experience will be considered.

This position is designed as a hybrid role, requiring on‑site work in Huntington, Indiana three days per week. Remote work may be considered for highly qualified non‑local candidates.
  • Incumbent must be able to sit for extended amounts of time as this position requires 60 - 70% of time to be spent in sitting at a computer
