Their work ensures compliance with accessibility standards like the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), making digital content perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust for all users. As remote workers, they collaborate with design and development teams to audit, remediate, and implement accessible features, often using tools to test compatibility with assistive technologies. What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a web accessibility developer?

To thrive as a Web Accessibility Developer, you need a strong understanding of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), often backed by experience in front-end development and accessibility auditing. Familiarity with tools like screen readers (e.g., JAWS, NVDA), accessibility testing frameworks, and ARIA (Accessible Rich Internet Applications) is essential. Attention to detail, problem-solving, and effective remote communication skills help you collaborate with teams and ensure inclusive digital experiences. These competencies ensure that websites are accessible to all users, comply with legal requirements, and provide a better user experience.
