Purpose of the Role

The Prepared Foods Clerk helps create a vibrant and nourishing experience for customers through the preparation and presentation of fresh, high-quality meals. This role supports the mission of Weaver Street Market by providing friendly, knowledgeable service, maintaining attractive food displays, and ensuring safe food handling practices. Prepared Foods Clerks embody the values of cooperation, community, and shared success in both customer interactions and kitchen teamwork.

A. Primary Duties of the Role

  • Provide excellent customer service by answering questions, handling special orders, and ensuring satisfaction through follow-up.
  • Prepare and serve hot bar, salad bar, sandwiches and grab-and-go items using safe food handling practices and established recipes.
  • Stock and maintain all prepared foods areas, including the hot bar, salad bar, and self-service cases. Remove expired items promptly.
  • Follow opening and closing procedures, including setup, cleanup, and accurate completion of shift checklists.
  • Receive and stock deliveries accurately and efficiently.
  • Bus and wash dishes, clean kitchen equipment, and take out trash, compost, and recycling.
  • Prepare food and supplies for upcoming shifts or the next day’s service.
  • Use Microsoft Teams to check department messages, store/unit updates, and co-op-wide news. Post and respond as needed to support clear and respectful communication among all employees.
  • Work independently and as part of a team to complete all assigned tasks.
  • Address routine concerns; communicate non-routine issues to the department manager or manager on duty.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the department and Weaver Street Market as a whole.
