What are weather traders?

Weather traders are professionals who buy and sell financial instruments based on weather patterns and forecasts. They use weather derivatives, such as futures and options, to hedge risks or speculate on changes in weather conditions that can impact industries like agriculture, energy, and insurance. By analyzing weather data and market trends, weather traders help companies protect themselves against financial losses caused by unexpected weather events. Their work often involves collaboration with meteorologists and financial analysts to make informed trading decisions.

How does a Weather Trader typically collaborate with meteorologists and risk analysts in their daily work?

Weather Traders work closely with meteorologists to interpret weather forecasts and integrate this data into trading strategies. They also coordinate with risk analysts to assess potential financial impacts of weather events on markets such as energy, agriculture, or insurance. Effective collaboration ensures that trading decisions are informed by the latest weather models and risk assessments, helping to mitigate losses and capitalize on market opportunities. Job description

About Flash Weather AI

Flash Weather AI is redefining how industries understand and respond to severe weather. Our proprietary forecasting engine powers enterprise-grade predictions for lightning, hail, and tornadoes — with the precision and lead time that modern operations demand. At the core of our platform is FLASH Edge: an all-weather API built for scale, built for business, and built to protect what matters most.

The opportunity

We're looking for a driven, independent sales professional to build and grow our enterprise client base. You'll be at the front lines of selling FLASH Edge API access and our proprietary severe weather forecasting suite to companies that depend on real-time atmospheric intelligence to make critical operational decisions. If you're a hunter who thrives on relationship-building, can navigate complex procurement cycles, and are excited by a product that genuinely saves lives and money — this role is for you.

What you'll sell

  • FLASH Edge Platform — our all-weather API delivering real-time and forecast data at enterprise scale, with flexible integration for any tech stack
  • Proprietary lightning forecasting — hyper-local strike prediction and risk scoring for outdoor operations
  • Hail probability models — leading indicators for storm damage risk with tile-level granularity
  • Tornado track forecasting — advanced ensemble models providing earlier lead time than national services
  • Custom data feeds, white-label solutions, and API licensing for enterprise deployments

Industries you'll target

Insurance

Construction

Concrete & materials

Solar & energy

Fire mitigation

Sports & events

Logistics

Agriculture

Property tech

And much more

What we're looking for

  • Proven track record in B2B or enterprise sales — SaaS, data, API, or weather/climate experience a strong plus
  • Comfortable selling technical products to non-technical and technical buyers alike
  • Skilled at prospecting, outreach, and navigating multi-stakeholder deal cycles
  • Strong communicator who can translate complex atmospheric data into clear business value
  • Self-motivated, quota-driven, and thrives in an early-stage environment
  • Experience with CRM tools (HubSpot) preferred

What you'll be responsible for

  • Identify, prospect, and close new enterprise accounts across target verticals
  • Own the full sales cycle — outreach through contract execution
  • Deliver compelling product demos of FLASH Edge API and severe weather forecast products
  • Build long-term relationships with key accounts to drive upsell and expansion revenue
  • Provide market feedback to product and leadership teams
  • Represent Flash Weather AI at industry events, conferences, and trade shows as needed
