Job description

Hale Contracting, LLC is a family-owned site grading and utility contractor based in Williamstown, Kentucky. We are committed to delivering high-quality site development and utility construction projects while providing a safe, team-oriented work environment where employees can build long-term careers.

We are seeking an experienced, dependable Heavy Equipment Operator to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have experience operating a variety of earthmoving equipment on commercial and residential construction projects and possess a strong commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Safely operate heavy equipment, including excavators (trackhoes), bulldozers, graders, loaders, rollers, skid steers, and other construction equipment.
  • Excavate trenches and dig ditches for utility pipe installation while maintaining proper grade and safety standards.
  • Perform channel lining and other drainage or erosion control work.
  • Operate bulldozers to backfill trenches, build pads, and perform finish grading for roads, building pads, and other site development projects.
  • Read and interpret construction plans, grades, and project specifications.
  • Utilize GPS machine control systems, including Trimble or Topcon, to achieve accurate grading and excavation.
  • Maintain equipment in a clean and safe operating condition.
  • Work closely with supervisors and crew members to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
  • Follow all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and project-specific safety requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

We're looking for candidates with:

  • Experience operating heavy earthmoving equipment in commercial or residential construction.
  • Proficiency operating excavators (trackhoes), bulldozers, graders, and loaders.
  • Experience operating rollers, skid steers, and other compact equipment.
  • Experience loading haul trucks and performing mass earthmoving operations.
  • Experience digging utility trenches and working around underground utilities.
  • Experience with finish grading, road construction, and building pad preparation.
  • Working knowledge of GPS machine control systems, including Trimble or Topcon.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to identify and report equipment issues.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform physically demanding work.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Valid driver's license with a safe driving record.
