Wearable Data Science information

What is wearable data science?

Wearable data science is a field focused on analyzing and interpreting data collected from wearable devices such as smartwatches, fitness trackers, and health monitors. Professionals in this area develop methods to process large volumes of sensor data to gain insights into health, activity, and behavior patterns. The insights can be used to improve health outcomes, enhance user experiences, and support research in various domains including healthcare, sports, and consumer technology.

How do wearable data scientists typically collaborate with hardware engineers and software developers during product development?

Wearable data scientists work closely with hardware engineers to understand sensor specifications and data collection constraints, ensuring that the data is accurate and usable for analysis. They also collaborate with software developers to integrate data processing algorithms into wearable devices or companion apps, often providing feedback on data flow, storage, and real-time analytics. This cross-functional teamwork is essential for developing robust products that deliver actionable insights to users and meet technical requirements.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a wearable data scientist, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Wearable Data Scientist, you need a solid background in data analysis, statistics, machine learning, and a relevant degree in fields like computer science, engineering, or data science. Familiarity with programming languages such as Python or R, experience with data visualization tools, and knowledge of wearable sensor platforms are typically required. Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and effective communication skills help you translate complex data into actionable insights. These skills are vital for developing accurate models and delivering meaningful results that drive innovation in wearable technology.

What is the difference between Wearable Data Science vs Wearable Data Analyst?

Suno is the fastest growing consumer entertainment company and the leader in AI music. We are backed by leading investors including Bond Capital, Menlo Ventures, Lightspeed Venture Partners, IVP, Forerunner, Union Square Ventures, Alkeon, Quiet, Matrix Partners, Schroders Capital and, NVentures (venture arm of NVIDIA).
About the Role
As a data Scientist on Growth Product, you'll own the analytics for the early-life user journey: everything from the moment someone lands on Suno through their first sessions, first songs, and first reasons to come back. A user's first few experiences are some of the most important inflection points in their lifecycle, and getting them right is one of the highest-leverage problems at Suno. You'll lead data science support on the Growth Activation team, working very closely with product, engineering, and design.
What You'll Do
  • Own the analytics for how new users activate and form habits on Suno, from signup and onboarding through everything that happens in their first week on Suno
  • Design experiments that improve the early-life journey, from push notifications and lifecycle messaging to product surfaces like Hooks, Create, and net-new experiences
  • Sit on a centralized data science team but serve as the lead DS on Growth Activate, collaborating closely with product, engineering, and design
  • Advance our mission of making creative fulfillment a daily reality for everyone by turning first visits into daily creative habits
  • Contribute to building strong data foundations as part of our awesome data science team
What You'll Need
Must-Haves
  • 5-7+ years in data science or product analytics roles, ideally on consumer products
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL, Python, and statistical modeling
  • Deep experimentation experience grounded in statistical rigor: designing and running experiments end to end, deriving clear insights, and making strategic recommendations
  • A broad data science toolkit and the judgment to pick the right tool for the right question, all ultimately in service of making thoughtful product decisions
  • A self-starter mentality with an ownership mindset: you thrive in ambiguity, wear multiple hats, and never stop learning
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration: you work closely with product, eng, and design, and influence stakeholders and teams through data insights

Nice-to-Haves
  • Experience at a fast-growing consumer app, or a startup that scaled through strong product-led growth
  • Background in activation, lifecycle, or growth analytics
  • Hands-on AI usage in day-to-day data science work (agents, prompting, building small tools)
  • A love of music or creative tools
