Job description

Washington Trust has an opportunity for a highly motivated Wealth Associate to join our Wealth Management Administration team. The Wealth Associate will work closely with wealth management professionals and administrative staff to provide operational, client service, and account administration support. The Associate is responsible for coordinating administrative processes, maintaining account documentation, supporting client onboarding and servicing activities, and ensuring the timely and accurate execution of operational workflows.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with 5+ years of experience in wealth management, financial services operations, or client administration who is looking to broaden their knowledge of wealth management practices and client service delivery. This position is part of a career progression track and offers opportunities to develop expertise in fiduciary services, wealth planning, client relationship management, and other areas of wealth management.
Primary Responsibilities
Client & Administrative Support
  • Respond to client and internal inquiries in a timely and professional manner, providing assistance and directing requests to the appropriate team members when needed.
  • Coordinate and schedule client meetings, prepare meeting materials, and support follow-up activities.
  • Process and monitor account-related transactions, including checks, wires, ACH transfers, bill payments, and other administrative requests.
  • Prepare and maintain client records, account documentation, and system data to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Support account onboarding, maintenance, and servicing activities throughout the client relationship lifecycle.

Operational & Team Support
  • Gather, organize, and maintain documentation required for account opening, account maintenance, annual reviews, distributions, and account closing activities.
  • Create, update, and maintain records within Wealth Management systems to ensure data integrity and compliance with established procedures.
  • Coordinate administrative workflows and follow-up activities across team members and internal business partners.
  • Prepare correspondence, reports, spreadsheets, and other administrative materials to support departmental operations.
  • Assist with special projects, departmental initiatives, and process improvement efforts as assigned.

Quality Assurance & Process Management
  • Run and review operational reports to monitor account activity, workflow status, and outstanding action items.
  • Maintain reminders, and tracking tools to ensure deadlines, regulatory requirements, and internal procedures are met.
  • Perform quality-control reviews of documentation, account records, and transactions to promote accuracy and consistency.
  • Monitor outstanding requests and follow up with appropriate parties to ensure timely completion of administrative and operational tasks.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and contribute to enhancing operational efficiency and service delivery.

Requirements and Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and 5+ years of experience in wealth management operations, financial services administration, client service, account administration, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of operational workflows, account servicing, documentation management, and administrative processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain a high level of accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Proven experience delivering exceptional client and internal service through effective communication and problem resolution.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel, Outlook, and document management systems.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Professional telephone presence and the ability to interact effectively with clients, colleagues, and business partners.

This position is in Providence or Westerly, RI, but has the option to work remotely from RI, CT, or MA. Candidates must have access to appropriate internet/wi-fi and home workspace (required).
Compensation: A good-faith, reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is $65,000-$75,000, and the actual offer will depend on factors such as experience, skills, training, certifications, and education. This base salary reflects one component of our competitive compensation package. This position may be eligible for an annual bonus and includes a comprehensive benefits package.
