Job description

The Associate Wealth Advisor (AWA) serves as a launch pad toward advisory career path. The AWA manages relationships with emerging wealth clients, supports business development activities, and provides backup coverage for advisors, while continuing to build the skills necessary to progress into a full Wealth Advisor role.

This position is ideal for someone ready to take on client-facing responsibilities, deepen financial planning knowledge, and demonstrate the ability to manage accounts independently while supporting broader advisor teams.

Duties and Responsibilities

Client Relationship Management

  • Serve as primary advisor for clients with portfolios generally below $500k (with growth potential to manage clients under $1M over time).
  • Provide financial planning and investment guidance for clients with foundational needs (e.g., ETF model portfolios, basic cash flow planning).
  • Deliver high-touch servicing for client inquiries, ensuring consistent, high-quality client experiences.
  • Back up lead advisors during absences by handling routine client servicing and account requests.

Business Development & Growth

  • Support local office business development efforts through seminars, branch presentations, and centers of influence (COIs).
  • Conduct proactive outbound and responsive inbound calls to prospects, qualifying leads and converting them to clients.
  • Partner with advisors who do not have a dedicated Wealth Advisor to assist in prospect meetings.
  • Collaborate with marketing and regional teams to nurture prospects and generate growth in assigned markets.

Operational & Team Support

  • Collaborate with operations, portfolio management, and financial planning teams to prepare for and follow up on client meetings.
  • Ensure CRM systems (Salesforce, Tamarac etc.) are updated with client/prospect interactions and workflows.
  • Stay current with compliance, regulatory, and industry developments to ensure proper client servicing.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree required; finance, economics, or business preferred.
  • CFP® - passed CFP exams.
  • 3–5 years of client-facing experience in financial services, with demonstrated relationship management and sales skills.
  • Strong knowledge of core financial planning concepts and model portfolio investing.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with ability to manage client expectations professionally.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage competing priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with CRM and financial planning tools (Salesforce, Tamarac, eMoney, or similar).

Career Path

This role is designed as a steppingstone to the Wealth Advisor position. Success will be measured by demonstrated ability to independently manage client relationships, contribute to business development, and deliver financial planning value at scale. Top performers will be considered for promotion into a Wealth Advisor role, consistent with EPWA’s growth and advisor development milestones
