Job description

WCI's Construction Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for commercial and/or residential construction projects. This role analyzes project plans and specifications, collaborates with subcontractors and suppliers, and supports project teams throughout the bidding and preconstruction phases.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review project drawings, specifications, and related documents to determine scope of work

• Assist in preparing detailed project cost estimates and bid proposals
• Assist in subcontractor prequalification processes
• Develop and maintain qualified subcontractor bid invitation lists
• Solicit, obtain, and evaluate subcontractor and supplier bids
• Perform quantity take-offs and obtain material pricing
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and value engineering options
• Participate in pre-proposal meetings and prepare RFIs
• Evaluate project plans and specifications for constructability
• Help prepare, organize, and coordinate Request for Proposal (RFP) documents
• Maintain historical cost data and perform document archiving
• Communicate regularly with management, subcontractors, clients, and internal teams
• Attend site visits and pre-bid meetings -as required
Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of estimating experience in commercial and/or residential construction
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities
  • Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., PlanSwift, Bluebeam, Bid Management, Planhub or similar)
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and building codes
  • Strong analytical, mathematical, and organizational skills

Preferred:
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (preferred)
• Experience with Federal or USACE projects
