Job Summary
Responsible for managing and coordinating the activities of the Materials Management department.
The Materials Manager, Wavemark is a proven leader responsible for managing and supporting Wavemark operations across an Integrated Delivery Network (IDN). This role requires the ability to influence, guide, and lead teams and stakeholders who may not have a direct reporting relationship, while driving operational excellence and standardization across multiple facilities.
The successful candidate will collaborate closely with clinical teams, supply chain leaders, and vendor partners to ensure effective inventory management, process compliance, and optimal utilization of Wavemark solutions. This leader will identify and implement cost savings opportunities, drive adherence to established processes, and provide training and education when necessary to support operational goals.
Key responsibilities include:
• Leading Wavemark initiatives across multiple facilities within the IDN.
• Influencing and coordinating teams without direct supervisory authority.
• Building strong partnerships with clinical staff, supply chain teams, and vendors.
• Driving compliance with organizational policies, procedures, and inventory management standards.
• Identifying and implementing cost savings and process improvement opportunities.
• Monitoring performance metrics and ensuring operational objectives are achieved.
• Promoting best practices and continuous improvement across all supported locations.
This is a hybrid position that requires working on-site at healthcare facilities, in an office environment, and remotely. The role requires regular local travel to support multiple locations and stakeholders throughout the service area.
Qualifications:
• Demonstrated leadership experience in materials management, supply chain, healthcare operations, or a related field.
• Strong ability to influence and lead cross-functional teams without direct authority.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills.
• Experience working with clinical teams and external vendors.
• Proven ability to drive compliance, operational improvements, and cost reduction initiatives.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and training capabilities.
• Ability to travel locally as needed to support multiple facilities.Job Description
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelors degree or equivalent experience.
Licenses/Certifications: (None)
Experience / Knowledge / Skills:
  • At least five (5) years Materials Management experience in a hospital or healthcare setting.
  • At least one (1) year supervisory experience.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.

Principal Accountabilities
  • Maintains and monitors inventory levels of supplies and equipment.
  • Manages Materials Management department personnel: conducting performance evaluations, interviewing, hiring, counseling, and terminating as necessary.
  • Direct and coordinate activities of the department.
  • Ensures safe care to patients, staffs and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.
  • Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education, skills competency, supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor, and resource to less experienced staff.
  • Demonstrates commitment to caring for every member of our community by creating compassionate and personalized experiences. Models Memorial Hermann's service standards by providing safe, caring, personalized and efficient experiences to patients and colleagues.
