Watermen are individuals who make their living by working on the water, typically harvesting seafood such as crabs, oysters, and fish. They are most commonly associated with regions like the Chesapeake Bay in the United States, where they use traditional boats and methods to catch and gather marine resources. Watermen play a crucial role in local economies and help maintain cultural traditions related to fishing and boating. Their work is physically demanding and often dependent on seasonal and environmental conditions.

The role requires physical stamina for tasks such as hauling lines, maintaining decks, and assisting with cargo operations. Teamwork is essential, as Watermen collaborate closely with other crew members to ensure safe and efficient vessel operations. Adaptability and quick problem-solving skills are important, especially when unexpected maintenance or emergencies arise. Additionally, Watermen must adhere to strict safety protocols to minimize risks on board.
