Job description
GAI Consultants, Inc is seeking an Water/Wastewater Engineer 2 to work out of our Homestead, Cranberry, or Southpointe, PA office. The successful candidate will enjoy working in a challenging, fast-paced, and team-oriented environment that will utilize their college education and related work experience to develop professionally into a well-rounded engineer with the ability to grow in today's global environment.
Job Duties:
- Assist in water/wastewater process and pipeline design projects for industrial and municipal clients (power plants, steel manufacturing and data center/mission critical facilities, etc.).
- Assist in Civil Engineering design and calculations for water, wastewater, and stormwater components of new development, modification or remediation projects.
- Participates in technical studies, product design, preparation of specifications, and technical plans.
- Filling out and completing permit applications for processing.
- Field work may include water sampling, site inspection, and construction administration support including completing field observation reports.
- Prepare plans utilizing AutoDesk Civil 3D.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work indoors in professional office settings.
- Ability to sit for extended periods while performing computer-based tasks.
- Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing, writing, and handling office equipment.
- Visual acuity to read printed materials, digital screens, detailed documents, and perform detailed work.
- Occasional standing, walking, bending, or reaching within the office environment. Ability to move between workstations and attend in-person meetings.
- Ability to lift and carry office materials or equipment weighing up to 10-20 pounds, with or without assistance.
- Adequate hearing to participate in conversations, phone calls, and virtual meetings.

Qualifications:
- Bachelors (B.S.) degree from an accredited college in Environmental or Civil Engineering (M.S. degree a plus)
- PE Certification
- Strong verbal and written communication skills. Strong technical writing skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment and work independently as needed on project-specific tasks.
- Dedicated commitment to performing quality work with a positive attitude and work ethic.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit and BIM desired.
- Knowledge of GIS software is a plus, including using Arc GIS software and using the software in modeling water and waste/water networks.

- Begins to develop and reviews complete project documents for conformity and quality assurance.
Project and Task Management
- Assigns tasks to other technical and non-technical staff.
- Plans and coordinates detailed aspects of the engineering work.
- Prepares scopes, budgets, and schedules for assignments.
- Assists with proposals to provide professional services or obtain funding for engineering projects or projects.
Management Responsibility
- Receives general direction on key objectives. Receives guidance on unconventional/complex problems, direction on modified techniques, and new approaches on assignments with conflicting criteria.
- Mentors junior staff by providing guidance, explaining professional responsibilities, and reviewing work products.
- Attends project meetings and presents specific aspects of engineering assignments.
