Job Description
Our Geotechnical team is one of the finest in the industry! We are looking for a new team member to work on projects in the New Jersey and New York areas. This is a field position involving conducting inspections as well as assisting with sampling and testing of soils and rocks. There will also be classifying of soil and rock samples, laboratory testing, and preparing boring logs.Under general supervision, performs basic to moderate complexity geologic/ seismic evaluations/fault rupture hazard and slope stability investigations/hydrogeologic analysis (aquifer test analysis; geochemical analysis; geotechnical analysis; contaminant transport analysis etc.) in both surface and subsurface geologic conditions pertaining to water supply, contaminant and/or geotechnical assessments. Activities may include subsurface geological formation logging, water sampling, surface geological mapping, aquifer testing and/or soils characterization and data compilation and evaluation. Prepares cross sections, Isoconcentration maps, technical reports, and/or QA/QC analysis. Develops draft evaluations and calculations for compliance with federal, state and local regulations. Ensures that firm policies and practices are followed on all assessments. Schedules and reviews the work of subcontractors during field work.Responsibilities may include but are not limited to: Subsurface drilling, subsurface soil sample collection, monitoring well installation oversight of drilling contractor. Field sampling plan development and implementation. Geologic conditions description. Laboratory testing coordination Boring log and geologic cross section development. Oversight of construction activities including earthwork, dewatering, pile installation, excavation support installation, and load tests. Field report writing. Oversee Field Operations as needed, which may include overnight hours and weekends.
Skills & Abilities
Expert Knowledge of computer assisted design and drafting (CADD) 3D and 4D software and practices. Solid knowledge of engineer principles of design. Expert Knowledge of Microsoft business software (excel, word, etc.). Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Geotechnical, Civil, Mining or Geologic Engineering or related discipline. 3 years of related experience. Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands. Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

CDM Smith is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. This pay range is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels for the geographic location assigned to the position. In addition to geographic location, a candidate's salary is determined by several other factors including, but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, relevant work experience, skills, required certifications, and education/training.

All bonuses at CDM Smith are discretionary and may or may not apply to this position.
