Job description

Summary:

Washington College in Chestertown, MD, is seeking certified lifeguards to staff the on-campus Casey Swim Center. Candidates must hold an active American Red Cross lifeguarding certification (valid for two years). Casey Center lifeguards are responsible for opening and closing the pool, and ensuring the safety of patrons during their shift by checking chemical levels, enforcing pool rules, and adhering to Red Cross lifeguarding protocols.

Essential Functions:

  • Ensure safety of Casey Center patrons by remaining alert and focused while on duty
  • Perform any rescues and/or resuscitations as needed according to Red Cross and Washington College protocol
  • Control access to pool deck by unlocking and locking appropriate doors at the start and end of each assigned shift
  • Enforce Swim Center rules, policies, and regulations
  • Help maintain the sanitary appearance of the Swim Center
  • Maintain current American Red Cross Lifeguarding certification every 2 years, including deep water rescue, CPR, AED, and first aid skills
  • Test pool water according to Kent County Health Dept. guidelines (training will be provided for this task)
  • Appear on time for all assigned shifts and give ample notice in case of conflict

Qualifications :

  • Must be at least 16 years of age.
  • Must hold current Red Cross Lifeguarding certification, including deep water, CPR, AED, and first aid.
