Job Summary:
The Water Quality Management (WQM) program at Red Rocks Community College is seeking a part-time Water Quality Management Instructor to teach 1000-4000 level courses within the Water Quality Management program. This position is focused on delivering high-quality classroom, laboratory, online, hybrid, and field-based instruction that prepares students for careers in drinking water, wastewater, water distribution, environmental compliance, water resource management, and related water quality professions.
Part-time WQM Instructors perform instruction-related duties in accordance with the philosophy, policies, and procedures of the Colorado Community College System and Red Rocks Community College. The instructor may teach a variety of water quality topics, including water and wastewater treatment, environmental regulations, water quality monitoring, environmental sampling, laboratory procedures, utility operations, water laws, data analysis, watershed management, project management, and other related subjects based on program needs and instructor qualifications.
The WQM Instructor will collaborate with the Dean, program faculty, and department leadership to support consistent course delivery in alignment with approved curriculum, course outcomes, Colorado Career and Technical Education expectations, and current industry practices. Instructors are responsible for preparing course materials, assessing student learning, maintaining accurate grading records, utilizing the college learning management system, and fostering a safe, inclusive, and student-centered learning environment.
Part-time Instructors perform instruction-related duties, and responsibilities in their respective areas of expertise at the College in accordance with the philosophy, policies, and procedures of the Colorado Community College System and Red Rocks Community College. This posting will be used to fill multiple part-time Instructor vacancies. Finalist must be willing to make Colorado their primary workplace, including online courses. This posting will be used to fill multiple vacancies.
Compensation is based on credit hour/contact hour ratios and ranges from $1,213.06 to $1,333.42.

Competencies/KSAs:
• Knowledge of drinking water treatment, wastewater treatment, water distribution and collection systems, water quality monitoring, environmental sampling, laboratory procedures, and current industry practices.
• Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local regulations governing drinking water, wastewater, and water resource management.
• Ability to deliver effective instruction in classroom, laboratory, online, hybrid, and field-based learning environments.
• Ability to communicate technical water quality, environmental science, and regulatory concepts to students with varying levels of experience.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree or higher in Water Quality Management, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Water Resources, Environmental Technology, Biology, Chemistry, Public Health, Natural Resources, or another closely related field.
• Qualifies for a Colorado postsecondary Career and Technical Education credential, including 4,000 non-teaching occupational hours in a water quality-related field within the past seven years.
Physical & Cognitive Demands:
The following are some of the physical and cognitive demands commonly associated with this position:
• Regularly works in classroom, laboratory, water treatment facility, wastewater treatment facility, and field-based learning environments.
• Frequently stands, walks, bends, reaches, climbs, and demonstrates laboratory procedures, environmental sampling techniques, and equipment operation.
• Frequently uses laboratory equipment, field sampling equipment, testing instruments, monitoring devices, computers, and instructional technology.
• Occasionally moves instructional materials, sampling supplies, and field equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Regularly uses a computer, learning management system, email, instructional technology, and standard office equipment.
• Cognitive demands include observing, analyzing, interpreting data, troubleshooting, evaluating laboratory results, communicating, instructing, and applying sound judgment.
• Must be able to recognize safety concerns and provide clear direction during laboratory and field-based instructional activities.
