Job description

Fresh Mark is seeking a detail-oriented and self-motivated FSQA Microbiology Technologist to support food safety and environmental monitoring programs. This role is responsible for environmental and microbiological sampling, sanitation verification, investigations, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to drive corrective and preventive actions.
Location: Salem, Ohio (100% on-site)

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct environmental and microbiological sampling according to the Environmental Monitoring Program (EMP).
  • Collect, label, document, and manage environmental swabs and samples.
  • Perform routine testing including pre-operational, contact surface, air, water, and compressed air sampling.
  • Partner with Production, Maintenance, and Sanitation teams on root cause investigations and corrective actions.
  • Maintain environmental monitoring documentation and cleaning schedules.
  • Monitor microbiological inventory and testing supplies.
  • Support customer, regulatory, and third-party audits.
  • Participate in food safety, sanitation, microbiology, and capital project meetings.

Qualifications
  • Degree, coursework, or experience in Microbiology, Food Science, Biology, Chemistry, or a related scientific field preferred.
  • Strong investigative, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Flexible schedule with occasional early mornings, shift work, and weekends as needed.
  • Strong communication, documentation, and organizational skills.
