Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled CNC Machinist to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for setting up, programming, and operating CNC machines to produce precision plastic, tape and foam components. This role requires a strong understanding of machining processes, print interpretation, and quality control to ensure the highest standards of craftsmanship. The CNC Machinist will work with various machining tools and equipment, including CNC saws, routers  and water jet machinery, utilizing advanced programming skills to meet production specifications efficiently and accurately.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate  machining equipment .
  • Create, modify, and troubleshoot CNC G-code and M-code programs to produce complex parts according to blueprints and technical specifications.
  • Interpret mechanical prints, CAD drawings to ensure precise manufacturing processes.
  • Perform machine setup, calibration, and tooling changes to optimize machining operations.
  • Conduct precision measurement using calipers, micrometers,  and other measurement instruments for quality inspection.
  • Maintain high standards of quality by inspecting parts during and after machining for adherence to specifications.
  • Perform manual machining tasks when necessary, including rotary die cutting.
  • Troubleshoot machine issues promptly to minimize downtime and ensure continuous production flow.
  • Follow lean manufacturing type principles to improve efficiency and reduce waste in the machining process.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with safety protocols.

 

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of CAD/CAM software like SolidWorks and CAM programming techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical prints, technical drawings.
  • Mechanical aptitude with experience in machining of plastics and foam products, a plus.
  • Skilled in using precision measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, dial indicators, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM).
  • Familiarity with machine processes for routers, waterjet cutters and other CNC equipment.
  • Basic math skills necessary for measurement calculations and process adjustments.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures related to machine setup and operation in a manufacturing environment.
  • Mechanical knowledge related to machine setup, calibration, troubleshooting, and quality inspection processes.
