Join our dedicated team and become part of a community that values both its people and its progress.What's Your Day Like?As a Water/Wastewater Operator II, you will take an active role in operating, inspecting, maintaining, and repairing the City's water supply, treatment and distribution systems, as well as its wastewater treatment and collection facilities.Your responsibilities may include inspecting and repairing wells, reservoirs, pumping stations, meters, chlorination systems, wastewater pump stations, gauges, pumps, filters, valves, and other treatment equipment. You will help maintain water quality by collecting and testing water and wastewater samples in accordance with local, state, and federal requirements.You will monitor treatment plant equipment, gauges, and operational charts; record and analyze plant data; evaluate test results; prepare required reports; and perform quality-control testing on laboratory equipment and analyses. You may also calibrate, modify, or repair instrumentation, flow meters, recorders, and other water-quality monitoring equipment.Additional responsibilities include locating water and wastewater lines, responding to reports of leaks or service interruptions, communicating with residents and businesses about service disruptions, repairing water mains and service connections, and operating construction and power equipment. Because utility emergencies can occur outside regular working hours, you will also participate in a rotational on-call schedule.Most work is performed outdoors or in the field under varying weather conditions. Safety, sound judgment, technical accuracy, attention to detail, and dependable service are essential every day.Are You the Water/Wastewater Operator II We're Looking For?The ideal candidate is an experienced, safety-conscious utility professional who can apply technical knowledge to water and wastewater operations, maintenance, testing, and repair. You should be comfortable evaluating system conditions, identifying operational concerns, interpreting test results, and responding appropriately to utility service issues.Strong mechanical aptitude, mathematical skills, problem-solving abilities, and experience with laboratory procedures, instrumentation, construction equipment, and utility infrastructure will help you succeed in this position.
