Job description

A Warehouse Shipping Supervisor oversees the daily outbound logistics and fulfillment operations of a facility. They manage shipping staff, coordinate the accurate picking, packing, and dispatching of orders, enforce strict safety and quality standards, and utilize warehouse management systems (WMS) to meet strict delivery KPIs.
Core Responsibilities
  • Order Fulfillment: Direct the daily workflow of picking, packing, and staging orders to ensure on-time and accurate customer deliveries.
  • Team Leadership: Manage, train, and schedule warehouse staff. Conduct performance reviews, delegate tasks, and motivate the team to achieve daily operational goals.
  • Logistics Coordination: Collaborate with freight carriers, sales teams, and customer service to route shipments and resolve any delivery discrepancies or delays.
  • Quality Control: Ensure products are properly packaged, labeled, and match the corresponding bills of lading (BOL) or packing slips before leaving the dock.]
  • Safety & Compliance: Enforce workplace safety protocols (e.g., OSHA regulations, forklift certifications) and conduct regular safety meetings.
  • Metrics & Reporting: Monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) like order accuracy, shipping costs, and labor productivity, reporting results to upper management.

Essential Qualifications & Requirements
  • Experience: Typically 3+ years of progressive warehouse or logistics experience, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent; Associate's or Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management or business is highly desirable for many roles.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software (e.g., SAP, Oracle), and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Physical & Environmental Demands: Ability to stand for long periods, lift heavy objects (typically up to \(50\) lbs), and work in varied warehouse environments.
