About Our Client:

Addison Group is hiring on behalf of our client, a mission-driven organization that operates large warehouse and distribution facilities throughout the Greater Washington, DC area. This organization is committed to operational excellence, safety, compliance, and maintaining critical facility infrastructure that supports essential community services.

Job Description:

Our client is seeking a hands-on Facilities Maintenance Technician to support maintenance operations within a fast-paced warehouse environment.

Industrial refrigeration and HVAC expertise are two of the most important qualifications for this position.

The ideal candidate will bring strong experience maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing industrial refrigeration systems, freezers, coolers, HVAC equipment, and facility infrastructure within a warehouse, distribution, manufacturing, food service, or cold-storage environment.

This role requires a highly independent and proactive maintenance professional who can effectively prioritize work, solve problems without constant direction, and take full ownership of maintenance issues from diagnosis through resolution.

Candidates who perform best in autonomous environments and are comfortable making decisions independently will be most successful in this position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform preventive, routine, and emergency maintenance on warehouse facility systems and equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair industrial refrigeration systems, coolers, freezers, HVAC equipment, and related mechanical components.
  • Complete basic repairs and maintenance involving plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and building systems.
  • Respond to maintenance requests, equipment breakdowns, and facility-related issues while minimizing operational disruptions.
  • Inspect and maintain warehouse equipment including dock doors, conveyors, racking systems, pallet jacks, and material handling equipment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance activities and document completed work through work order and maintenance tracking systems.
  • Coordinate with outside service providers and contractors when specialized repairs are required.
  • Support facility inspections, safety initiatives, and compliance-related activities.
  • Assist with warehouse improvement projects, equipment installations, painting, signage, and general facility upkeep.
  • Work closely with operations teams to maintain a safe, organized, and efficient warehouse environment.
  • Support warehouse operations as needed, including wrapping, packing, and loading pallets onto trucks when business needs require additional assistance.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3-5 years of facilities maintenance experience within a warehouse, distribution center, manufacturing facility, food distribution operation, cold-storage environment, or similar industrial setting.
  • Strong hands-on experience with industrial refrigeration systems is required.
  • Proven experience performing HVAC maintenance, troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repair is required.
  • Experience performing preventive maintenance, equipment repairs, and troubleshooting work orders.
  • Working knowledge of at least one of the following disciplines: HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or mechanical systems.
  • Previous warehouse maintenance experience is required.
  • Experience working with pallet jacks, dock equipment, conveyors, racking systems, or other warehouse infrastructure.
  • Ability to use CMMS, ticketing systems, or maintenance tracking software to manage work orders and maintenance activity.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to obtain forklift certification within 30 days of hire.

Highly Preferred Qualifications:

  • Industrial refrigeration and HVAC experience gained within a warehouse, distribution center, food distribution operation, or cold-storage facility.
  • Trade school education or technical certifications related to HVAC, electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, or facilities maintenance.
  • Experience supporting temperature-controlled environments and refrigeration equipment.

Critical Success Factors:

  • Requires a high degree of initiative, independent problem-solving, and self-direction.
  • Must be able to work effectively with minimal supervision while managing competing maintenance priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to take ownership of maintenance issues and drive them through successful resolution.
  • Best suited for professionals who thrive in autonomous environments rather than highly structured settings requiring constant direction.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills, mechanical aptitude, and resourcefulness.
  • Reliable attendance and strong follow-through.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.

Additional Details:

  • Fully onsite position located in Lorton, VA.
  • Opportunity to join a growing operations team focused on safety, compliance, and continuous improvement.

  • Interview Process:
    • Virtual panel interview with operations leadership.

  • Ideal start date: ASAP.

Perks:

  • Competitive compensation package.
  • Comprehensive healthcare coverage.
  • 401(k) with employer contribution.
  • Paid time off and holidays.
