Summary
The Dell Driver is responsible for the safe, compliant, and precise transportation and installation support of sensitive, high-value equipment from warehouse locations to Data Center Operations (DCO) sites. This role requires a Class A CDL, strict adherence to DOT/FMCSA regulations, and the ability to operate effectively within active construction and data center environments.
This position goes beyond traditional driving responsibilities, serving as a critical extension of DSV's operational and customer service standards. The Dell Driver is expected to deliver white glove service, maintain a professional presence, and support on-site installation activities while ensuring accuracy, safety, and efficiency throughout the delivery process.
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Safely operate Class A commercial vehicles in full compliance with DOT and FMCSA regulations.
  • Execute scheduled deliveries from warehouse locations to Data Center Operations (DCO) sites.
  • Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure equipment safety and compliance.
  • Provide white glove service when handling sensitive, high-value, or technical equipment.
  • Assist with installation and placement of server systems and related equipment using provided tools and procedures.
  • Work independently or collaboratively in teams of up to five to complete delivery and installation activities.
  • Accurately complete Proof of Delivery (POD) documentation and ensure shipment accuracy.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to all required uniform and PPE standards.
  • Communicate proactively with the Manager regarding delays, safety concerns, or operational issues.
  • Operate safely within active construction sites, data centers, and controlled environments.
  • Adhere to all DSV policies, safety protocols, and customer-specific requirements.
  • Support travel to other U.S. locations as required based on operational needs.
  • Work flexible schedules, including weekends and approved overtime, in alignment with business demands.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support Dell operations.

Qualifications & Experience
  • Valid Class A CDL with a clean MVR meeting DOT/FMCSA and DSV standards
  • Minimum 2 years of commercial driving experience preferred
  • Ability to work in active construction and data center environments
  • Ability to travel and work variable schedules, including weekends and overtime
  • Experience supporting data center deliveries, white glove service, or specialized freight preferred
  • Familiarity with ELDs, POD systems, and freight documentation preferred
  • Experience assisting with IT/server equipment installation preferred (training provided)

Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to operate a commercial vehicle, perform physical freight handling activities, and install server racks with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Frequently carry, push, or pull freight weighing up to 5000 pounds (using pallet jack)
  • Lift up to 50 pounds independently
  • Frequently reach for freight at waist level and occasionally above shoulder height or below waist level
  • Operate vehicle controls, including shifting manual transmission and using foot pedals (not applicable on all trucks)
  • Frequently squat, crouch, kneel, and bend to handle, position, and secure freight
  • Perform installation support activities, which may require working in confined spaces and assuming a prone position (lying flat) to properly position, secure, or connect equipment
  • Climb in and out of a commercial tractor (4 to 6 feet) approximately 8-10 times per day using steps and handholds, while maintaining balance
  • Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of tractor and trailer
  • Hook and unhook commercial vehicle combinations, including manually raising/lowering landing gear, operating fifth wheel release levers, locking/releasing pintle hooks, fueling vehicles, checking fluid levels, and performing basic preventative maintenance
  • Stand and walk for extended periods (up to 50% of the workday) on surfaces such as wood, metal, and concrete, which may be uneven, slippery, or wet
  • Reach above shoulder level, at waist level, and below waist level to maneuver freight and operate equipment controls

Work Environment
While performing the duties of this role, the employee works in a combination of environments including inside a truck cab and outdoors at warehouse locations, construction sites, and data center facilities. The position requires regular exposure to varying weather conditions such as heat, cold, rain, and wind, as well as diesel fumes, airborne particles, noise, and vibration associated with commercial vehicle operation. Work is frequently performed in active construction zones and secure data center environments, requiring strict adherence to safety protocols and situational awareness. The role may involve navigating tight spaces, controlled access sites, and time-sensitive delivery schedules. Noise levels can range from moderate inside the cab to loud at delivery and installation locations.
