Purpose of Position:


Del Monte Foods is the Foods Division of Fresh Del Monte, a global grower, producer and marketer of fresh, value-added, and shelf-stable produce. Del Monte Foods has a powerful portfolio of brands, including the iconic Del Monte®, Contadina® and S&W®. We are currently seeking an Maintenance Mechanic. The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for the assembly, installation, maintenance, repair, and overhaul of warehouse labeling department, and building machinery and equipment. This role ensures compliance with safety standards, GMP, and OSHA regulations while supporting continuous improvement of facilities and equipment.


Accountabilities:

  • Assemble, install, maintain, repair, and overhaul warehouse, labeling department, and building machinery equipment.
  • Perform mechanical work including gears, bearings, and repair of material handling equipment. Repair and install hydraulic system pumps and flow systems.
  • Perform maintenance wiring and installation of motors, switches, panels, fuse boxes, lighting, and power circuits.
  • Inspect motors, switches, junction boxes, circuit breakers, transformers, and power circuits. Install, connect, adjust, and calibrate electrical gauges and recording instruments.
  • Troubleshoot equipment controlled by PC controllers and mechanical equipment sequencers. Make preventative and running repairs and corrections.
  • Plan and schedule future work; update and maintain inventory records.
  • Perform and follow lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Maintain open communication with supervisors and team members.
  • Keep work area clean and comply with OSHA, GMP, and safety standards.
  • Assist in maintaining warehouse security.


Minimum Skills Required:

  • Any equivalent combination of experience and education will be considered 
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
  • 5-7+ years of multi-craft maintenance mechanic experience preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience in a food manufacturing or distribution environment
  • Familiarity with PC controllers and mechanical equipment sequencers 
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude
  • Knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, circuitry, and electronic sensors
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, circuit diagrams, anc ladder logic diagrams
  • Experience with 480V three phase
  • Sound background in solid state circuitry, high voltage DC rectify and control circuits
  • Currently certified OSHA forklift operator
  • Ability to work any shift including weekends and overtime
  • Compliance with OSHA, GMP, and safety, standards
