Job Overview:
Job Summary**
The Materials Technician II is responsible for the precise handling, tracking, and organization of construction materials at project sites for Primoris Energy Services in Sherman, Texas. This role ensures material availability, accuracy, and compliance with project specifications, contributing to efficient and safe project execution.
Job Responsibilities**
* Receive, inspect, and document incoming materials, verifying quantities against purchase orders and identifying any discrepancies or damages.
* Organize and maintain a well-structured and safe materials storage area, including proper labeling, inventory control, and preservation of materials.
* Issue materials to field personnel and subcontractors based on requisitions and project schedules, ensuring accurate record-keeping of all material movements.
* Conduct regular inventory counts and reconcile with system records, investigating and resolving any variances.
* Operate various material handling equipment, such as forklifts and telehandlers, safely and efficiently.
* Collaborate with project management, procurement, and field teams to anticipate material needs and address potential supply chain issues.
* Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, as well as environmental regulations, during material handling and storage.
* Assist with the preparation and packaging of materials for return to vendors or transfer to other sites.
* Maintain accurate and organized material documentation, including receiving reports, issue tickets, and inventory logs.
* Perform general housekeeping duties in the materials yard and storage areas.
Job Qualifications**
* High school diploma or equivalent required.
* Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in materials management, warehousing, or logistics, preferably in a construction or industrial setting.
* Proficiency in operating forklifts and other material handling equipment; certification is a plus.
* Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
* Ability to read and understand purchase orders, packing slips, and material specifications.
* Basic computer skills, including experience with inventory tracking software or systems.
* Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
* Must be able to lift and move heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) and perform physical tasks outdoors in various weather conditions.
* Commitment to safety and adherence to all company safety protocols.
* Valid driver's license preferred.
