Position Description

The Inventory Control Specialist – Cycle Count is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records by performing routine cycle counts, investigating inventory discrepancies, and ensuring proper tracking of finished goods, raw materials, maintenance parts, and production supplies. This role collects, verifies, and enters inventory information into Cohere Beauty’s inventory systems while supporting inventory accuracy, warehouse organization, and operational efficiency.

The Inventory Control Specialist – Cycle Count works closely with Warehouse, Maintenance, Production, and other departments to identify root causes of inventory variances, maintain accurate inventory locations, and support continuous improvement initiatives related to inventory management.

This is a Second (2nd) Shift Position - Monday through Friday - 2:30 pm - 11:00 pm

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Inventory Control & Accuracy

  • Execute daily or scheduled cycle counts of assigned stock locations, finished goods, raw materials, maintenance parts, and production supplies.
  • Collect inventory movement information from production and warehouse areas to verify accuracy of inventory transactions.
  • Perform physical inventory counts and reconcile results against the Warehouse Management System (WMS), Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), or other inventory systems.
  • Investigate root causes of inventory discrepancies and recommend corrective actions.
  • Process inventory adjustments to ensure system records accurately reflect physical inventory.
  • Maintain and utilize inventory adjustment codes to properly document inventory corrections.
  • Assist with inventory audits and provide documentation as needed.
  • Monitor inventory accuracy and identify opportunities for process improvements.

Inventory Organization & Systems

  • Maintain barcode systems and ensure inventory locations are accurate and properly labeled.
  • Verify parts and materials are properly rotated using FIFO (First-In, First-Out) practices.
  • Ensure inventory items are clearly labeled, organized, and safely secured.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records through timely and accurate data entry.
  • Enter daily cycle counts into computer systems or RF handheld units.
  • Support inventory management activities utilizing WMS and related systems.

Warehouse & Operational Support

  • Assist with daily inventory activities across warehouse, production, and maintenance areas.
  • Support counting and tracking of production consumables and supplies, including items such as hair nets, beard nets, gloves, and other operational materials.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of assigned inventory areas.
  • Maintain cleanliness and good working condition of assigned equipment and tools.
  • Communicate effectively with team members regarding inventory status, discrepancies, and issues.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Safety & Compliance

  • Comply with all safety, quality, regulatory, and company standards established by Cohere Beauty.
  • Follow all applicable procedures related to material handling, inventory control, and documentation.
  • Promote a safe and organized work environment.
  • Regular predictable attendance is required.
  • Perform work on-site.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • High school or equivalent.
  • Intermediate reading, writing, and mathematical skills (high school level or equivalent).
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify inventory discrepancies.
  • Clerical skills including filing, data entry, recordkeeping, and typing proficiency (approximately 40 words per minute).
  • Ability to accurately perform inventory calculations and maintain detailed records.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and work independently.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience using Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) or inventory tracking systems.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to operate RF handheld inventory devices.
  • Ability to maintain reliable and predictable attendance.
  • Ability to operate forklift (stand-up) and pallet jack.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Prior inventory control, cycle counting, warehouse, manufacturing, or clerical experience.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Experience using AS400 or similar inventory management systems.
  • Experience with RF scanners or handheld inventory devices.
  • Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification.
  • Advanced mathematical and statistical abilities.
  • Experience conducting inventory audits and discrepancy investigations.
  • Knowledge of maintenance parts inventory management or storeroom operations.
  • Previous experience in inventory control, warehouse operations, manufacturing, maintenance storeroom, or related functions.

Travel & Working Conditions

  • Manufacturing environment - some temperature extremes, dust, noise, and wet conditions.
  • No annual travel expectations are required for this position.
