Job description

Job Summary/Objective

The Warehouse Technician is responsible for receiving, retrieving, moving, staging, and organizing materials, equipment, and inventory to support field operations. This position loads, unloads, moves, and stores product using material handling equipment such as forklifts and company vehicles, including stake body trucks. The Warehouse Technician maintains accurate inventory records, supports shipping and receiving activities, and ensures warehouse areas remain safe, clean, and organized. The role requires strong communication skills, basic computer proficiency, and the flexibility to work overtime as business needs require.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Maintains organized files, records, and inventory documentation.
  • Prepares equipment and materials for field deployment by pulling, staging, and loading products for installation crews.
  • Operates forklifts and other material handling equipment to move, stack, and store materials safely.
  • Drives company vehicles, including stake body trucks with air brakes, to transport equipment and materials as needed.
  • Prepares and stages products and equipment for outbound shipments using appropriate carriers.
  • Receives and unloads inbound shipments and places materials in designated storage locations.
  • Maintains inventory accuracy through proper warehouse management and inventory control practices.
  • Updates inventory records and warehouse data using company software and tracking systems.
  • Removes trash, packaging materials, and debris to maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Prepares and completes warehouse orders for delivery or pickup according to schedule.
  • Supports warehouse operations during overtime, peak workload periods, and special projects as needed.
  • Maintains a clean, organized, and safety-focused work environment.
Minimum Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOT Medical Card.
  • Ability to operate or learn to operate forklifts and warehouse material handling equipment.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including experience with Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook, Excel, and Word.
Preferred and Additional Eligibility Qualifications
  • Two (2) or more years of warehouse, logistics, or material management experience.
  • Forklift certification and/or operating experience.
  • Inventory control and cycle counting experience.
  • Experience utilizing ERP, warehouse management, or inventory management software.
  • Familiarity with warehouse management systems and processes.
  • Knowledge of commonly used warehouse concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of 5S, Standard Work, and Lean principles.
  • Experience in the telecommunications, utilities, or construction industry.
  • Commercial Driver's License (CDL) preferred.
Skills Required
  • Successfully pass and maintain certifications for all required powered industrial equipment within 60 days of hire.
  • Pass and maintain a DOT Medical Card.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word) and Smartsheet.
  • Highly effective written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to accurately maintain inventory records and related documentation.
  • Ability to safely drive a stake body truck with air brakes.
  • Ability to work overtime on a weekly basis as business needs require.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions with strong attention to detail and safety.

Work Environment/Physical Demands/Travel Required
  • Routinely drives assigned fleet vehicles, including stake body trucks.
