Job Summary

As an Inventory Control Supervisor, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and integrity of warehouse inventory while serving as a subject matter expert and mentor for Inventory Control Assistants and other warehouse team members. This position combines hands-on inventory management responsibilities with leadership duties focused on training, coaching, and supporting new associates to ensure adherence to inventory control processes and best practices.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive, with strong inventory management experience and a passion for developing others. This role will help drive inventory accuracy, optimize warehouse processes, support operational excellence, and contribute to a positive team environment.

Key Responsibilities

Inventory Leadership & Team Development

  • Serve as the primary resource for Inventory Control Assistants and warehouse team members regarding inventory processes, procedures, and best practices.
  • Train, mentor, and onboard new associates on inventory management systems, warehouse procedures, safety standards, and company expectations.
  • Provide ongoing coaching and guidance to team members to improve accuracy, productivity, and performance.
  • Assist supervisors and managers in identifying training opportunities and implementing process improvements.
  • Lead by example through adherence to company policies, inventory standards, and safety procedures.
  • Support cross-training initiatives to ensure operational flexibility across warehouse functions.

Inventory Tracking & Accuracy

  • Lead daily inventory verification activities and ensure inventory records remain accurate and up to date.
  • Conduct and coordinate regular cycle counts and physical inventory audits.
  • Investigate, reconcile, and resolve inventory discrepancies between physical stock and system records.
  • Support inventory audits and communicate findings, shortages, damages, and corrective actions to management.
  • Monitor inventory accuracy metrics and recommend improvements to reduce errors and improve efficiency.

Stock Receiving & Organization

  • Audit and support the receiving process by verifying incoming shipments against purchase orders and inspecting products for damage.
  • Ensure proper labeling, storage, and organization of inventory within designated warehouse locations.
  • Guide associates on proper receiving, stocking, and inventory handling procedures.
  • Promote efficient warehouse organization practices that maximize storage capacity and accessibility.

Inventory Management

  • Monitor inventory levels and assist in maintaining appropriate stock levels to prevent shortages and overstock situations.
  • Track inventory movement using warehouse management systems (WMS) and ensure transaction accuracy.
  • Assist with maintaining accurate records for warehouse tools, equipment, and materials.
  • Support inventory process improvements and system enhancements to increase operational efficiency.

Order Fulfillment & Shipping Support

  • Support order picking, packing, and shipping activities to ensure accurate and timely customer deliveries.
  • Verify order accuracy and provide guidance to team members regarding inventory-related fulfillment issues.
  • Coordinate with shipping personnel to prioritize urgent orders and resolve inventory concerns impacting fulfillment.
  • Assist in troubleshooting inventory-related shipping discrepancies.

Inventory Reporting & Documentation

  • Maintain accurate inventory records and documentation in both physical and electronic formats.
  • Generate and review inventory-related reports, including stock levels, inventory variances, and order accuracy metrics.
  • Ensure proper documentation and processing of returns, transfers, damaged goods, and inventory adjustments.
  • Communicate inventory trends and concerns to warehouse leadership.

Warehouse Maintenance & Safety

  • Promote and maintain a safe, organized, and clean warehouse environment.
  • Assist in monitoring warehouse equipment, storage systems, and inventory areas to ensure proper functionality.
  • Reinforce safety procedures and provide guidance to associates regarding warehouse safety practices.
  • Report and escalate safety hazards, equipment issues, or operational concerns promptly.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Partner with warehouse staff, procurement teams, operations personnel, and leadership to support efficient inventory processes.
  • Assist in resolving inventory-related issues and provide recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Serve as a liaison between inventory assistants and warehouse leadership to ensure clear communication and consistent execution of processes.
  • Support Warehouse Managers and Supervisors with daily operational priorities and special projects.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2+ years of experience in warehouse operations, inventory control, logistics, or a related field.
  • Experience training, mentoring, or leading team members in a warehouse environment.
  • Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) and inventory software such as NetSuite.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to inventory accuracy.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and inventory management tools.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently while also leading and supporting team initiatives.
  • Ability to follow and enforce safety protocols and warehouse procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate degree or relevant coursework in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or a related field.
  • Experience leading inventory audits, cycle count programs, or process improvement initiatives.
  • Forklift certification or experience operating warehouse equipment.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, bend, walk, and lift for extended periods.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment (training and certification may be provided).

Work Environment
