Job description

The Inventory Control Assistant is a full time, permanent position in the Oxford Utilities Electric Division. The immediate supervisor for this position is the Inventory Control Manager. The person in this position is supervised weekly, and has no supervisory authority. The Inventory Control Assistant works regular hours year-round. There is no shift work for this position. 25% of the work for this position is outdoors and 75% is indoors, and requires work to be done in all types of weather conditions. There is accountability for safety and legal issues related to the work for which this position is responsible. There is exposure to chemicals and/or hazardous materials.

This exposure includes, but not limited to, cleaning products, transformer oil, insecticides, and etc. The person in this position must have a valid driver's license. In addition, a high school diploma, Associate degree or its equivalent is required. The stress level associated with this position is average. Physical work involved with this position includes, but is not limited to, climbing up and down ladders, walking, standing, bending, and lifting.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of material, components, electrical tools, and equipment.

Proper grammar and proper use of English in speaking and writing.

OSHA standards and regulations concerning employee safety.

Federal and state statues concerning the work of the department.

Mathematical skills, including addition, subtraction, division, multiplication.

General function and operation of municipal government.

Ability to read a work order and material requisition.

Ability to operate equipment, such as forklift, and etc.

Work as a team member with other employees.

Make decisions within specified time restraints.

Communicate effectively with residents, elected officials, other City employees, contractors, etc., both orally and written.
