Job description

Description:

About the Role

The Warehouse Associate keeps material moving — receiving and staging inbound freight, accurately pulling and packaging customer orders, and delivering product to customer sites and shops across Houston. This is primarily a warehouse role, with some time needed for product pickup or delivery. A valid driver's license and willingness to run delivery routes are required.

The person in this role is often the only DX Electric employee a customer sees in person, so professionalism on the job site matters as much as accuracy in the warehouse.

What You'll Do

  • Receive inbound shipments; verify quantities, part numbers, and condition against packing slips and purchase orders, and report discrepancies or damage same-day.
  • Put away stock in correct bin locations and maintain accurate location data in the ERP system.
  • Pick, package, and stage customer orders from pick tickets with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Measure and cut wire and cable to specified footage using reel carts and cutting equipment; label and tag cut lengths correctly.
  • Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, reach trucks, and reel handling equipment safely.
  • Run delivery and pickup routes to customer and vendor warehouses; obtain signatures and proof of delivery and return signed paperwork.
  • Complete pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections; report maintenance needs and safety issues promptly.
  • Represent DX Electric professionally and follow all customer and job-site safety requirements, including required PPE and site check-in procedures.

Schedule

Monday through Friday, approximately 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM with a one-hour lunch.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Starting pay: $20.00 per hour
  • Health insurance — 100% covered for the employee; dependent coverage available
  • Life insurance
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Paid time off (PTO)
Requirements:

 What You'll Need

  • Minimum 21 years of age (commercial vehicle insurance requirement).
  • Valid Texas driver's license with a clean motor vehicle record, subject to review and insurability under company policy.
  • Ability to read and interpret pick tickets, packing slips, and part numbers accurately.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background check.
  • Prior experience in electrical, industrial, or building products distribution preferred, but not required.

Physical RequirementsThe following are essential functions of this position, which can be performed with or without reasonable accommodation:

  • Regularly lift, carry, push, and pull material weighing up to 50 lbs unassisted; team-lift or use mechanical assistance for heavier reels, conduit bundles, and palletized freight.
  • Frequently climb ladders, stairs, and rolling stock ladders to access material in upper racking, and safely handle product while elevated.
  • Stand and walk on concrete for the majority of the shift, with frequent bending, squatting, kneeling, twisting, and reaching overhead.
  • Work in a warehouse that is not climate-controlled and outdoors at customer sites in seasonal Houston weather conditions.
